I do like Moser axles but Im not crazy about the 10 holes and not 5 ??? Im not worried about original axles but it would be nice to have something that looks right. I definatly dont want aftermarkets that may break.

What do you mean 10 holes?? I have Moser Axles in my 70 and they look bone stock. There are no extra lug holes. If you call them up and tell them what you want, they will make it for you.

Moser has a stock replacement line. I paid about $225 for the pair about 11 years ago. I got them from the shop that rebuilt my rear end.

I have been using Dutchman with good success. They were a little beefier than stock and competitively priced.

Can you give us a pix. I am not sure that they are ruined simply by acid etching.

I recently salvaged a 12 bolt axle. I took it to the machine shop. The crankshaft grinder put it in his machine and polished it. That didn't clean it up so I had him grind it till it cleaned. Only took about .0002 to be useable. You might try that.

I went with a Superior Axle kit from Summit. Came with USA made axles, bearings, seals, 5 hole set up, and new studs. $250
