I am looking for some one who has used Hedman Header gaskets on a SBC. The reason, my car came with the Hedmans already on. The gasket that I took off seemed a little strange. It almost looked and felt like plastic. I am trying to find the same gasket since it worked real well before I took the headers off. Does this sound like the stock Hedman gasket?
I am using Mr.Gasket Ultraseals right now, but they refuse to seal. I always had good luck with them on a cheap set of flowtechs but they refuse to work on the hedmans.
Thanks
Steve

I can tell you the gaskets I got with my Hedman HTS's were of the standard type. They even folded them in half when they packaged them. That pissed me off.

Steve,
Go with a good set of graphite header gaskets. These are available from Fel-Pro, Victor-Reinz, etc. They are a dark grey color (graphite) and have a metal core. Installed correctly on headers with straight flanges, they will last forever.

From what I know the Mr.Gasket Ultra Seals are a graphite gasket. They are dark in color and don't stick like paper.
I'll pull the header off today and check it again. But I 99% positive the head and header were nice and clean when I installed them.
Thanks

Problem sloved. Ports on the Ultra Seals were too tall. The Felpro 1444 has a shorter port and should work.
Thanks
