This Lunati cam worked well in my 350 but I never knew what grind it was. Great sound at idle, and would rev high and farther than I ever cared to take it. I did a cranking compression test with it before I pulled the motor and had 165-170psi with a standard gasket.

Now I've got the engine out and disassembled so I could finally id the cam. It's a Lunati 00010 hydraulic single pattern cam with advertised 292 duration, 0.480 lift, 109 separation and 107 intake center line.

Despite the 292 advertised duration, the cam is 230 at 0.050 - same as Comps 280 Magnum. Why the 12 degrees difference in the advertised duration?

Also, with the diffence in LSA and ICL between the cams - what differences in performance would you expect?

Anybody have experience running both of these cams?

I bet it'll run harder with the comp cam, sounds like it has a more aggresive lobe design. I bet you'll pick up some low and midrange power also. Looking at the older Lunati cams number-wise they seem abit lazy compared to comp's. I'll bet UDharold's designs rock though.

I'm running the lunati now and have had the same cam in two other engines. The grind is 30 years old but can still hold its own. The same grind was sold over the counter at Chevy years ago.
I was comparing these cams a while back on Desktop Dyno. The comp had more bottom end and the Lunati had more top but the difference is not worth the trouble to change if you already have a good cam whichever it may be.
