Thinking about doing the Jeep Steering Box swap.

I got the AC Delco P/N: 36-0517525 from the Rock Auto site. Did a search (reverse lookup) on the AC Delco site (http://198.208.187.182/internet/VehiclePartFits.jspand) and got 354 applications. All the way up to 2002 Wrangler. Also S10 applications etc.

Anybody know if these are all the same fast ratio boxes? Sure looks like it too me. You guys with the interchange books check it out.

Would make finding a box easier.

Thanks!!

 Same Part Number for all the applications listed on the AC web site.

Could you be more specific?

Just found these http://www.chevelles.com/techref/shea_1.html, http://www.chevelles.com/techref/shea_2.html, http://www.chevelles.com/techref/shea_3.html Right Here!!

Page 3 pretty much answers my question about specifics.

Thanks:)

Something to watch out for...

When a car is manufactured they are buying 1000's of parts and can, and usually do, have them custom configured to the specific requirements of just that car.

Once you hit the aftermarket there is a very strong push to reduce the number of part variations. Thus it is very possible to get a compatible but not exactly the same part.

Since one of the characteristics of the Jeep GC box is the T-bar spec, and this spec would be the least critical to change to the general motoring public, the aftermarket box could very likely provide a different and smaller T-bar. Thus you could get less bang than you would get going for the original Jeep GC box.
