My stepdad and I are trying to put together a BB for his truck. His budget is small so were watching the dollars. What we have in hand is a 402 block(decked .010),that has been bored .030(same as a .060 396,right?),stock rods and a crank. Our heads are casting #3933148(112cc open chambers per Mortec). Were trying to build something with lowend torque, somewhat lopey idle, dependable daily driver.Any recomends on pistons(possibly 9.5 or 10:1)and a hyd. cam to use to meet our goals? smile.gif

I figure any of the cams in the family between 268 and 274 advertised duration should do you fine at 9.5 to 9.75 to 1 CR..
I wouldn't run 10 to 1 with an iron-headed BB b/c of gas quality thing and extra cost to feed it some octane booster if needed... (And please note, 268, more grunt and 274, more rpm's sorta thing)..
As for cackle, an Isky 270 Mega cam ground on 108 centers will talk to you since Crane doesn't show a 274H06 BB cam like the SB cam in my old cat.
If you can get the Crane cam, b/c of it's 106 center, should be just what you want! Talk to you nice!! imho..
Or maybe Harold can steer you to one of Lunati's cams??
You will need to match piston dome shape and height to your heads and your quench dimension to get to your wanted compression ratio so please look through the piston manufacturer's sites on the web and in cat's. to come up with what you want..
Hope this is of help..
