MY FYN 79
Oct 8th, 04, 10:50 PM
Just curious for some thoughts on a cam for my new 383.
I aquired a set of new 885 Pro Magnum retro roller lifters, so my plan is to go back hydraulic.
Heres the specs:
74 350 block
10.5ish to 1 -- The ish comes into play here. It has SRP flattops. The block is zero decked. SRP claims 11 to 1 with 64ccs, and I plan to run 67cc heads with the typical thicker head gaskets.
Performer RPM airgap
Wilson Manifolds 1 inch 4 hole tapered spacer
750HP
Heads will either be AFR 195 or CNC Brodix 200RR---(Long sad story there)
1 3/4 headers, 3 into 2.5 X-pipe, 2.5 mandrel true duals with Magnaflow mufflers.
2004-R, 3200 lock-up Vigilante, 4.10 rear gears and 26 inch tall tires.
This is in a 3250# 1979 Monte Carlo.
I had an XR294-HR (242/248 @ .050 .540 .562 110 LSA) in my last 9.7 to 1 355 with E-Tec 200 heads, and other than a lack of bottom end I really liked the cam. I had 1.5 rockers back then, and I was considering running a 1.6/1.5 split on a cam of that style in my new motor.
This is a street strip deal, and a little rowdy isnt a big deal. The only catch is that the motor needs to be able to lug at 2300ish RPMs with the converter locked up on the highway. My goal is consistent 11 second ETs.
Sorry for all the info, and always asking, but I've had enough bad experiences lately I want this done right, the first time.
I appreciate the help I have been given already from members of this site (you know who you are! graemlins/beers.gif ), and any other input would be great!
