: Humorous Cruise Night Observation
mr 4 speed Jul 1st, 08, 9:20 PM ..finally got a chance to get the 70 out again for a cruise night..seems like every night here in CT lately has the the threat of rain  and tonight was no different.
Anyway, what the heck is up with all the people that buy repo battery cables and leave the M&H stickers on them? ;) :D
Is this local ignorance or is it widespread?
704EVER Jul 1st, 08, 9:38 PM Must be both, straighten em' out Chris, you can be the cable cop!!!:thumbsup::beers:
Don_Lightfoot Jul 1st, 08, 10:20 PM Interesting observation Chris. The last set I bought had those stickers and I really didn't know if they should stay on or not. Posted the question on one of the boards (here I think?) and got the answer.
mr 4 speed Jul 1st, 08, 10:30 PM Don,first time I ever installed a set of these years back I noticed the name of the company that repro'd them and thought "since these have GM part numbers on them why would you want the name of the repro co. advertised on the cable?"
Off they came :)
Bill Pritchard Jul 2nd, 08, 5:49 PM I think it's widespread, Chris. I have seen cars in both the midwest and out here in the southwest with similar tags on brake lines, fuel lines, trans lines, etc. Neither ignorance nor indifference knows no boundaries :noway:
CDN2PLS2 Jul 2nd, 08, 7:24 PM I saw cars at Barrett Jackson that all the stickers left on the new harnesses???
SebJr Jul 2nd, 08, 7:53 PM ....seems like every night here in CT lately has the the threat of rain  and tonight was no different.
Sucks..... doesn't it, it rains in Hartford, but not New Haven, the next day the opposite and it's suppose to be the same for the whole holiday weekend.
I'm still gonna try to hit the Classic Chevy show:yes: I was thinking of bringing the laptop to keep my eyes on the local radar.:)
DZAUTO Jul 3rd, 08, 10:43 AM HUH?????????????
I have NO clue what you're talking about!
Beaux Jul 3rd, 08, 11:56 AM I think it makes people feel like the car was just built no matter how long ago it was actually done. These are the folks, I think, that want to keep their car in some kind of perpetual "newness", like its a picture and not a vehicle.
These are the same types of people you see with labels still on their designer suit sleeves. The same people that dont take the manufacturer labels off of their ballcaps. Its a disease, I think......whatever it is that they have and they treasure or only have one of (finer things, excluding the hats cause this is with the younger MTV generation) they want to stay in the very same condition it was when they considered it at its peak - like when the build just got done and they were happy or when they added something NEW to their car and want it to stay PERFECTLY new (in their mind) which means just as it came, no signs of change or wear.
For the barret jackson stuff - Just like buying an appliance from someone else that didnt want or use it - tends to sell higher and quicker with all the tags and docs on each piece. Just presents a "this is new" to the potential buyer. Some like patina and fixing things up, some want braaaand spanking new.
Yup, I analyze and over analyze people - which, oddly enough, is why I like dogs. :D
HUH?????????????
I have NO clue what you're talking about!
I think we need to hook Tom up with a video about this so he can understand....with lots of music...loud, whiney bubble gum crap like Linkin Park or one of those other bands with guitars and someone whining over it in a nasal monitone voice. :D ;)
Bill Pritchard Jul 3rd, 08, 4:53 PM HUH?????????????
I have NO clue what you're talking about!
Tom,
Chris was referring to seeing people at car shows who have left the part number tags on their repro battery cables from M&H Electrical Fabricators. They make all kinds of repro wiring harnesses and electrical products for us old fogeys with old cars :D Perhaps you were getting confused thinking of M&H the racing tire manufacturer??
MEJ1990TM Jul 3rd, 08, 7:52 PM I guess the Chevelle doesn't have that problem. Both the battery cables are original. :D
Well actually now that I think about it one of them was replaced last summer.
