Can an engine overheat if the oversize jets in the four barrel carbuerator is giving too much gas to burn? I'm using hotter plugs but it doesn't help to burn off the access fuel.

It shouldn't. too much gas is just going to give you a richer fuel mixture. You may consider leaning it out with the idle mixture screws a little bit.

An overly rich mixture should not cause an engine to overheat but it will cause all sorts of other headaches such as:
-fouled plugs
-reduced power
-poor mileage
-increased emissions
-poor idle
-lubrication problems from raw gas mixing with engine oil.

Why not rejet? Let us know...MK

I would guess too rich a mixture would have the opposite effect.

Rich mixture cools the cylinders...lean mixture can cause overheating and can damage pistons....

if you change jets and it surges at constant highway speed you are too lean..

there are better sources here for how to jet properly than me tho!!!
