Helping myfriend doug rebuild his 400.

It's in an 80 Chevy pickup. It has 31" tires, 8lug suspension, 6" lift, 4speed manual with granny gear, not sure the rear gear.

The block is going to have the original 993 casting heads, compression will be apporx 9:1, performer intake, holley vacuum 650.

We'd like something to make the most torque, power isn't a concern. He's towing a 25ft sailboat with it. Nothing too radical, would like to use stock rockers, run 87oct pump gas, etc.

Does Harold build any torque monster cams? ;)

One of the oringinal High Energy cams by Comp Cams would work just fine. The 252HE or 260HE would work great. Not a whole lot of money either. graemlins/beers.gif

I’d recommend a good ole stock style 350 HP 327 cam. Like a the Speed Pro- CS179
222/222 @ 050 .447/.447 lift In/Ex 114 Lobe Separation. Had one my 400 and loved it, wished it had a little more lope too it but it ran great, LOTS OF LOW-END!!!

Just my thought!!

Look at the Isky 262 Supercam. This cam looks like it would make KILLER torque in a 400 sb with the 108 LSA. This is the one I will most likely go with when I rebuild the 400 I have to go in my '84 Suburban daily driver. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
