: how high do you spin your bbc water pump?
65lkey Jun 30th, 08, 1:47 AM so I put my serpentine setup on and now I don't throw belts. So now I can finally spin my motor to 6300 rpm. did it a few times and now the "weep" hole is weeping. So it's time for a new water pump. The re-man piece is like $26 plus a $10 core would this piece be able to stand up to my lead foot? or would I be better off getting a stage 1 Stewart warner?
VinceS427bb Jun 30th, 08, 1:58 AM who's the reman from?

65lkey Jun 30th, 08, 2:27 AM ^ I'm really thinking about just biting the bullet and getting a good one
Rags66 Jun 30th, 08, 2:29 AM No offense but if you can afford a serpentine kit, you can definitely afford to spend a few more more bucks to get a NEW pump. it'll probably last twice as long too.

Yah the serpentine was going to be the presidents stimulus plan, but my parents decided to claim me, but I was 18 so neither I or my parents got the stimulus money. long story short the serpentine was a graduation present.

65lkey Jun 30th, 08, 5:33 PM anyone have experience with the jegs house brand water pumps? the descriptions is almost identical to the milodon one
Bubba's 69 Jul 1st, 08, 1:42 PM :thumbsup:My GM pump dated 70 spins till the valves float.
SWHEATON Jul 2nd, 08, 10:43 AM The jegs/summit hi flow pumps that are approx $100 are a good repl pump to get because they have the better pumping/flowing impellers then the cheaper std rep or rblts have.
I have used those and Milodon's same type w/pumps with good results on sbc & bbc but are cheaper the the stewart stage 1 pumps.
BTW,dont go for the stewart stage 2 pump because the stock pulley/belt setup wont work with it.
Dont forget to also install a hi flow 180deg stat with those hi flow pumps or you will not get the benefit of the hi flow pumps supirior pumping/flow ability if you decide to go with one of these pumps.
It's definately worth the additonal $ to get the hiflow pump IMHO.
