I have a line on a 66 SD, red/black int., rebuilt 327/powerglide. Two owner car, present owner since 1967. Original paint. I have not seen the car but the vague description from the seller gives me the impression it is pretty rough. He says it need 1/4's, trunk pan, and probably more. Asking price is $2500. Now, my question is body panel availability/ interchange with Chevelle parts. Will Chevelle 1/4s, trunk pan, doors interchange? I don't think fenders will. He says all the trim is still on the car so grill etc. should be restorable. The 66 is only a couple hours away from me so I think I will take a little drive this week and check it out. If it is restorable it would be a shame to let this thing rust into the ground. Any info on the body parts available would be appreciated. I know these Beaumonts are pretty rare but I really don't know a lot more about them.

I think that the Chevelle/Beaumont body metal is the same. Finding good trim is the problem. Unless you are doing a lot of the work yourself it can get very expensive. Getting the diecast parts repaired and re-chromed gets expensive too. Dale Bertrand at www.dalesmusclecarparts.com is selling some of the reproduction die cast stuff. Good guy to deal with. My first car was a new '66 283 Sport Deluxe Beaumont so I have a fondness for them. If it is a Saskatchewan car, it should be in a lot better shape than an Ontario car with the salt we have here. Take a look. I picked up a '66 Beaumont brochure a few years ago just for nostalgia sake. Wouldn't mind a '66 again some time. The 396 cross flags were added to the front fenders by the original owner. The SD 396 cars got the V8 emblem same as a 283 car.

all the sheet metal is the same.

trim is hard to get but I do still see it at the swaps.

Have a look at the car, it may be worth it.

EDIT:
Scooped!

Their are people making new trim for beaumonts...see it all the time on e-bay. All chevelle boby panels can be modified to fit( at least they are for 67)
Sounds good to me!!
