: New pro systems carb
ak69 Jan 31st, 05, 4:22 PM Just got off the phone with Patrick James, ordered up a new carb for my combo. He has speced out a 1000 HP 4150 carb, custom metering, billet base plate and is adding a port to the base for the PCV system. This new carb will replace my 770 avenger, also today's the day to yank the third member and have the 3.70 gear swapped to 4.11 in the 9" rear. I figure that it will be a better match for the 30" tall radial slicks. The other thing that I am looking at is my timing curve, currently 38* total all in at 3000, looking to have it all in around 2400 -2500. I did install a line lock this winter, that should help with getting the burn out consistant. It's all about wacking some time off my 60 foot, current best of 1.770. I was impressed with Prosystems reputation, and figure that the customer service after the sale is well worth the litte extra the carb costs over the price of a box stock 950 hp. Pretty excited about the changes, too bad the track will not open until Mother's day here. Hoping to wack a couple of .10's off the 60's and pick up a liitle MPH as well...........what do you think?
novaracer Jan 31st, 05, 6:15 PM You will be very happy with Pro systems!! I got a 950 from him last summer and droped .2 and picked up 3mph 11.36 to 10.92 (over BG carb set up on dyno) out of the box jetting was dead on (do not know how he does it??). I have traction problems on the nitrous now never had any problems before (250 off the brake and hooked now can hook some times on 150 shot). The only thing I did different was block the power valve and jet it the same front and rear after removing PV. He has the best tech support I have ever used!! I have called him on his cell on Friday nights and sunday morning and he was more than happy to help every time I called. He also helped me with some timing issues I had. Can not say enough about them! Well worth the extra $$ over HP holley.

BigRed-L72 Jan 31st, 05, 7:52 PM nova..11.36 then dropping .2 would be an 11.16 not 10.92 are you sure on those numbers?
Bob West Jan 31st, 05, 10:10 PM Craig, how do those 30" tires fit in those wheel wells? what size wheels? I've had a 1.64 best 60ft best with 3.73's gonna try it with 30" tires now, gotta few more ponies under the hood too. Also did it with a box stock 950HP :D
novaracer Jan 31st, 05, 10:33 PM lol...my bad....those nova guys are a little slow (j/k) .44sec drop with the Pro systems for me.
Robert you might be in the 11.6 or lower with a pro systems....never know?? I'm sure its different for every car/motor combo but I know it works for me...

Bob West Jan 31st, 05, 11:04 PM BC, I sure hope I'm better than 11.6 with the new bullet :D 11.78 wasnt too bad for the old bullet though, no more than it had done to it. Even had an 11.84 last fall with worn out valve springs, it owed me nothing for 5.5 yrs of dependable service. It has been rebuilt already and going in my sons car next.
Robert, The Hoosier 10.5x30's are mounted on a 8" weld pro star wheel. They for sure fill up the wheel well. I scored them from 66 283 / Ryan. We measured every which way and he was convinced that they would fit......and they did. I do not have the fender lips rolled, and I can just slip my finger tips between the tire side wall and the top of the quater panel wheel arch. I think that it would be even tigther with a 10" rim, as the section width would increase on the wider rim. I do know that Ed runs a 10 inch rim, and has said that the car must be centered on the frame perfectly or it aint gonna happen. Good luck with the new mill, looking forward to some time slips!!!!!!!!! By the way, the numbers on your old combo has kinda been the target with my combo, heck, if Ol' Bob is running them numbers I can too! :D
novaracer Feb 1st, 05, 6:17 PM Robert,
I was not knocking your preformance, just saying that I had major improvements and I think other people would to. Good luck with the new motor hope it runs hard!!
mr 4 speed Feb 1st, 05, 6:52 PM Craig, how is the carb set up?
mc71454 Feb 1st, 05, 8:43 PM Good choice..
I will be using Patrick's Carb services myself this season..
ak69 Feb 1st, 05, 10:35 PM Chris, from Patrick at pro systems..........
"Looking your program over, we have an 1000 HP carb
priced at $790 with dominator metering on a 4150 size
carburetor. It has big passages and an aggressive
fuel curve, perfect for a big block application. This
concept in design (big fuel ports) offers highly
improved acceleration and shift recovery over a
standard 4150 as it has a metering design much like a
Dominator (I've picked guys up a tenth in the 60 foots
before with this design..it leaves hard). Its very
driveable too. : )
It has our adjustable air bleed configuration,
non-stick gaskets, drag float, Billet baseplate, jet
extensions, a complete wet-flow portfolio (shows all
the high to low jetting parameters)for easy tuning.
You can spray it up to a 350 shot. It'll flow a REAL
cfm number in the 920-940 range (I'll know more when
I'm flowing it for your application). Typically it'll
make 10-30 more hp than any out of the box design.
Just bolt on and go."
Looking forward to giving it a try. He has a tech sheet that pretty much covers the combo and he's good to go. Says when I get it to run as is.....and to call him from the track if I need any help, got to love that! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
