I have a 71 Chevelle and getting ready to paint the stripes. I have a diagram from a restoration guide for a 70. Is there a major differance between the 70 and 71? Thanks for your help.

in all of the repop catalogs they list the stencils for 70-72 chevelles so I think you can asume that they are the same.

The early (before april) 70's were narrower. Around april 70 they are the same thru 72. The stencils are for the later 70's thru 72's.

I think it's the other way around. My pre-April (Feb.) 1970 original SS stripes are 10-5/8" wide and although the vendors indicate that their stripes are the same from 70-72, they're supposedly not. I've read that post-April stripes are about 9.6 inches wide.

Go figure.
