I will be replacing mine soon as well. From the research I have done, I will most likely buy from Quanta.

Good luck

Keith, I belive that Quanta's tanks are manufactured here in Canada by Spectra Premium.

Wherever you decide to buy the tank, just may sure you ask where it's made. If it's an offshore make, don't buy it.

Got my 70 Chevelle Spectra tank from AutoPartsGiant.com. It was like $136 to my door. It is an exact copy of the original with a nice galvanized coating.

To repeat and confirm what Dan said above....Quanta is a retailer/wholesaler(distributor) of Spectra Premium brand tanks. Spectra Premium is the Canadian manufacturer of these tanks. These are the best tanks out there for the purposes of restorations.

Check RockAuto.com and others (they also sell THE SAME TANKS--Spectra Premium). From my experience (and as you can see from 70SS540's post above) the market for these tanks has become A LOT MORE competitive...Quanta has high prices and high shipping costs compared to RockAuto and some other places from what I have read on this site and other GM Abody sites. More vendors are carrying tanks now and the prices have come down at some of them substantially.

I got the Canadian tank for the '71 Elky from Tamraz, shipped for under $200 a few years back. It was SO nice that I hated to hide it away under the car! Just note that a repro tank requires a repro gas cap, and an original tank requires and original cap! It'll go on,but it won't come off!

What did they do quote the gold one? I'd try some other vender. Mine was less than $140 delivered from Rock Auto. Even cheaper with the discounts that are floating around.

Maybe your tank is different?? It says on the website a 71 tank is listed as a GM34U and is like $360.00. The tank I got for my 70 is a 34E and is $132.00. I dont know why the huge cost difference?? I noticed they had some tanks with the fuel pump inside.
