Back in time we used to set our lifter in a bucket of oil overnight and push down on the plunger for a few seconds to help prelube the HYD lifter. Since technology has change and people have become much smarter is it a good idea to pre oil lifters. This will some VT-1992 Elgin Solid Lifter. If not, do I just install them dry and wait until I pre-lube the engine with the drill to provide oil to the lifter. Whats the draw backs of pre-oiling Solid lifters?
Do you recommend putting cam lube on the lifter sides?
Since this is a Solid cam will it be feasable to set the valve last .004 less than the manfacture recommendation? Lunati calls for .026 hot, I need to set the lash to .022 for initial break-in then reset the last to .026 hot and install my inner springs after break-in.
Thanks: David
