Would anyone have a good picture of a complete unrestored medium blue 762 or 764 dash by any chance? I'm currently doing a medium blue interior and would like to check the colors that I had mixed against an original dash to see how close they are. Thanks in advance for any help. Mike

Now is it med blue or bright blue. Most catalogs call it bright blue for a 70 and I know you can purchase a aftermarket one. And I have elected to do mine in bright blue also. But...... a resto book I have says that the dash pad, seat plastic, dash, "A" pillars and carpet only came originally in dark blue when you ordered bright blue interior. Can any one dispute this with anykind of proof? I'm not trying to hijack your thread its just you asked for a picture of a original one and the book says they were all dark blue. I to would like to see a picture of and orginal bright blue dash pad also. Any one?

The "Chevy by the Numbers" book lists 762 and 764 in 70 as medium blue. I think somewhere along the way the vendors and others started refering to it as bright blue. Of all the blue interiors that I have seen over the last few months on restored cars, no 2 seem to be the same in color. My color guy matched my vinyl seat dye and I think the color is right on. The original dash pad color was matched and I think that is dead on as well. The first picture of the dash pad is the before picture. It's the dash carrier color that concerns me. I used the ash tray which was faded and I'm not sure it's the right color for the carrier. Something doesn't look exactly right. Take a look at the pictures and let me know what you think. I need to know if the carrier color is close or needs adjusting before I finish it.

That's it Brad, chrome next! After I figure the carrier color out. Here's the only good picture I have of a restored dash that looks pretty good but again, I don't know if this is how they are supposed to look. This dash pad and carrier appear to have more blue in the actual color than mine. Yet my carrier color is deceiving in it's picture, it's actually darker in person than it shows here.

Man, it's been 10 years since I did the LS6, it was 762 cloth bench, and I do remember there being two different shades of blue, but as to what was what color, I can't remember.

This is a picture from my '70 convertible that I had a few years back. The lap vent was replaced and painted with the bright blue paint. You can see the contrast to the rest of the original dash.

Thanks for the picture Alan, it eases my mind about my carrier color. They are very close, although my pictures above don't really reflect it. In real daylight without a flash, my carrier color is very close to yours. Your dash pad looks a shade lighter but that's not to say there weren't variations in that color, even from the factory.

I have a four door base chevelle with blue interior. I will check the trim code tomorrow. Would you want some pictures if it is the right color?

Thanks Paul, pictures would be a great help. Of all the blue interiors I have seen, the actual blue colors of various trim parts seem to be all over the spectrum.

Thanks for the effort Paul, another TC member sent 2 pictures of an unrestored 70 dash and it was just what I was looking for. Here they are and as you can see, depending how the camers takes the pictures, what I have now is close.
