: Fuel cell sump inside trunk?

So I was thinking instead of cutting a hole in my trunk for the sump on my fuel cell, that I would just mount the cell up on some square tubing and the whole cell could be contained in the trunk. Is there any downside to mounting it this way? Saftey issues? I know it doesn't take much of a cutout in the trunk for the sump, but with it all in the trunk I could possibly mount the filter and elec pump inside as well.

i built a littler platform for mine to sit on. so all i had to do is drill a hole for the fuel line.

Justin,
one item to keep and eye on, make sure the fuel level is not higher than the carb. Or, lets say you are changing a rear tire, it is possible for fuel to run into the engine.

I bought some 2" aluminum angle and several small bolts with lock nuts from the Hardware store an made this little mount below. It worked very well.

Ahhh, good info Larry. Never thought about the fuel level possibly being higher than the carb. I'll have to check that out.

That looks like a good setup gatewayracer. Any problems with fuel delivery or fuel level like Larry pointed out?
