: BeCool Radiator not direct fit
Iowa Jun 26th, 08, 5:28 PM Just wanted to pass along some info. Bought a BeCool Direct Fit Eliminator Aluminum Radiator for 1964 Chevelle. Assured by Jegs and BeCool that it would bolt right in with no modifications. Got it and it is excellent quality, but it was not a direct fit. Had to drill new holes at the bottom of the flanges and it is difficult at best to have them line up with the preexisting holes on the car since Be-Cools slots are already there and off the mark, making the need for a big ol washer. Called Be-Cool to make sure I got the right one or to let them know their product is not a direct fit for a 64 chevelle and the guy said it is a $300 radiator and that if you want a perfect fit to buy there downflow $800 radiator. I understood what he was saying-you get what you pay for, but I still don't think they should advertise it as "direct fit". Overall I am satisfied with it.
d1_bradley Jun 26th, 08, 9:03 PM With a hammer and drill, we'll get it in there DIRECTLY............. That's what they meant.
dscabra Jun 26th, 08, 11:27 PM I bought one of their radiators for my '70 El Camino -- perfect fit. I got it from a guy on eBay that sells their returned stuff. Mine had a small dent in the inside fins about the size of a dime. It came with the full factory waranty and I got it for 1/2 price. My normal running temp dropped 25 degrees with the new radiator.

Unfortunatly .. they use the term Direct fit ..then when you call they say .. oh you bought a performance radiator .. some modifactions are listed in the box in a alteration sheet ...well arent all there radiators performance radiators ... direct fit ..is a selling term for them .
I wont even use the term .. they have given it such a bad name .
Correct fit is what I build .. no mods needed what so ever .
sorry to hear you had to go that route .

Bad66Chevelle454 Jun 27th, 08, 9:36 AM I will vouch for Alumitech's "direct fit." My brother bought his set up for his 67 Nova a few months back, and it bolted in, no problems at all. Couldn't of been any easier. :)

Same with mine, installed and fit with no problems at all. This radiator is the best investment I've made on my 66' BB. I would highly recomend anyone even thinking about which brand to buy call and talk to Don at Alumitech.
I even wired it myself with easy to follow instructions and believe me, wiring and I don't mix:(
Randy 67EC Jun 27th, 08, 2:57 PM The BeCool Eliminator radiator fit my 67 EC no problem (283 non-air car originally). Could be a difference between the years, not sure. I do know the same part number I got is also sold for some Mopars, so they are not truly direct-fit, but more of kinda-direct-fit. Later on I want to go with an Alumitech radiator for a better radiator. The Eliminator is a little thin.
Sgtpop Jun 28th, 08, 1:59 AM Sorry you had a problem. I have always dealt with Mitch at Be Cool. I have sent a lot of business to him and have had good feed back. My rad fit perfect without any mods at all. Yes my rad did cost more but it keeps my system at 185-190 even when its 95 degrees. If you continue to have problems PM me and I will give you the number, and put you in touch with Mitch. Also I am not doubting anybody that has had problems with them, I can say I have not.
