Can anybody point me in a direction whewre I can find a picture or diagram of a 69 nontilt streering column. Ichecked by search and saw earlier years but not 69's I'm not sure what's different but I am replacing an offbrand wheel with a correct one and think I'm missing a few parts.
Thanks
( BTW I bought a wheel kit from OPGI and it didn't even come with screws for the shroud. everything else but)

did you need a special tool to get plats that looks like a cheap ninja star off? I need to get that off to see what's broke with the turn signal cam.

Yes, if I rememeber right there is a tool to push the plate in some so you can get the retaining ring off then the plate will slip off I have done this without the tool but it is a pain.Gary

Thanks Gary. I see a tool in OPGI cataloge. I'll see if I can find one local.

I did mine with out the tool, all you have to do is puch it down and have a small flat head screwdriver and pop the c-ring clip and work it off it only takes a second.
The hard part is putting it back on, takes some patience:yes:

Check the local parts house in your area, they usually have this tool for rental or they let you use it for free if you leave your ID behind.

Once you depress the locking plate you need to "dig" out the small round wire ring that is seated in a groove in the steering column shaft. There is a pretty heavy spring just under the locking plate that requires some pretty good force to depress the plate.

I had my teenage son (who has strong thumbs) depress the locking plate while I worked over and around him to get two thin bladed screwdrivers under the ring to get it out.

It is a lot more straight forward with the special tool.

BTW, I have some fairly complete instructions on disassembly and repair of the GM columns.

Dave, no need to post the same questions twice as it makes things too confusing for everyone.

There is a word viewer program free download.

Also the Open Office program works fine (so I here) when you don't have MS Office on your machine.
