I have read many postings in this forum with much interest and I have a question that I have yet to see. What does one do when ONE of the rivets on your VIN tag is gone. The other is still there and firmly in place and all the numbers that are supposed to match do. Do you just leave it like that or what? My car is not anything special, at least to anyone but me and I have no intention of selling or cloning it into something it is not. I just wonder what some other people would do in this situation.

There is not much you can do but leave it be. If one edge is loose you could (very carefully) glue it down. But try not to leave any suspicion of tampering.

The rivets that hold the VIN plate are special and illegal to buy or posses.

You could use a regular rivet to make it more secure. The one correct rivet would still be a sign that the tag hasn't been removed.
