my machinist advised upgrading from 2.055 to 2.08 intake valves on my brand new iron eagle 215cc heads.would this hurt torque below 4000 rpm? i'll be running a comp TLS-6 cam with a super victor intake and 850 d.p.with .456 gears on my 385c.i. 6"rodded stroker smallblock.it will stall around 3850 rpm or higher (my guess) with my converter and combo.

oh yeah,the cam is grind # 304TLS-6.
advertised duration:intake=304
exhaust=312
duration @ .050:intake=274/exhaust=282
lift:intake=.590/exhaust=.610
lobe sep.:106

I don't think there is any valid reason to put a 2.08 valve in a 215cc small block head, especially a new head.
The port will stall long before the valve will run out of area.
You may pick up a bit of low lift flow but I doubt it without some very good unshrouding & work with the upper & lower leadin angles.
The demand on the port at low lift is very low & as long as you have enough valve area to support the amout of air the cylinder wants at the time more is not going to do much.
The size of the valve has very little if anything to to do with where you are going to make torque.
I feel the cam has the most influence followed by, intake manifold type, runner size & length & exhaust & collector.

thanks Wolfplace,i appreciate the good advice.. ;) i thought it sounded kinda unnecessary.i already have all my valves bought and doubt its worth the trouble.i'm modeling my combo after one of david vizards drag race motors and it does very well with the 2.055's.
