OK Guys,
I got the Comp Cams rocker arm conversion installed. First of all, Olds should have done this to begin with! The kit itself was a 100% bolt on swap. The pushrods were the right length for my engine. The instructions are weak, just very general. No torque specs for the new studs, so based on small journal Chevy rod bolts (which are the same size) I torqued the studs 40-45. The installation had its moments. To change out the 2 rear pushrods on the left side required taking the brake booster loose (not off) and pull it over to the left a little. To change the 2 right rear pushrods the right motor mount bolt had to be removed and the right side of the engine jacked because the AC box was in the way (motor mount bolt was very easy to get out and back in). Took about 4hrs, open hood to test drive. I took my time.

Cool deal. There's a 442 guy down the street from me, I'll mention this to him. He knows I'm an engine builder, he's always asking me about Olds engine stuff, finally I'll have something to say.....

Yeah those conversion kits are great, but they are not something new. I put the small block kit in my 330 back in 92 with a custom ground .528 lift solid lifter cam. The kit is still going strong.

I've used this kit on both big and small Olds. Good kit, works well and comes with everything you need.

I was hoping you guys who have done this conversion before would respond before I did mine and not after. I only wish I had done this 10yrs ago.

Didn't know you were interested in the Comp Kit. I must have missed that post, but I would have said to go for it which you ended up doing anyway.

It's reassuring to know others are satisfied with this conversion. I had reservations, but could not come up with a better solution for adjusting lifters on an Olds engine.
