Ok I trashed my ring and pinion out of my 8.2 10 bolt rearend it was Richmond 3.73's and they had been in there for about 3 years. I now will be doing less driving on the street and want to go a little more agressive I will be driving it on the street 99% of the time but I do plan on taking it to the strip. However I don't plan on taking it on the highway to much. So with that said I was wanting to get 4.10 but thinking aboutit I want a little more agressive and 4.56 would be a little over the top so I know of 4.33's and that would be GREAT but do they make em for my rearend? If so where do i find them at? thanks

I"m shooting for 12's n\a but thinking 13's currently. But good news happened today with me getting a 12 bolt tomorrow! Guy said I could take it off his hands and I see Summit has 4.33's for 12 bolt's but now I have to get a limited slip differential. Any places come to mind in where I could find one at a cheaper price? But I don't want to go used.
Anybody in need of a 10 bolt 8.2" rearend with a Auburn "Limited Slip" (full POSI)? thanks

Tell you the truth I have no idea what to offer.

What kind of shape is it in?

What do you want to get for it?

I've got an Auburn posi for a 8.5 I need to sell and I was wonder what to ask also.

It's in great shape it has been shimmed tight so it spun both tires all the time. I don't know how much I would want for it. But it's a good one! thanks

Okay I made an order today for all my stuff and got 4.33's! And the deal with the carrier is the guy said I just had to get a spacer for it. so... but I ended up getting a Mini Spool for it and the guy said that I had to run C clip eliminators with it. Is this true????? Damn things are not cheap. Any how set me straight. thanks

Mini Spools are not meant for drag racing! and never mind street driving..Dangerous !

..sounds like you're a little obsessed with a gear number instead of an et..what is your combo..
I'm sure it will slow down with 4.33's,although the "asso meter dyno" will make you think otherwise..
I highly doubt you'll need 4.33's or 4.56's...no one runs gear like that, unless its an all out very quick drag car and the combination needs gear like that in conjunction with a very tall tire..jmho and not meant to sound harsh..

Do the durn math and figure out EXACTLY at what rpm you want to be shifting and crossing the line at, factoring in tire rollout ( dia.), then decide on a gear. I wanted to be shifting ( slighty under) and crossing the line at the end of the engine's powerband, 6800 rpm. Thats where my particular combination is creating the most energy. It came to be 4.33, btw, with short 25" tires even.

It isn't nilly willy pick a number out of a catalog, do some math on your combination and figure where you want that motor to work at, then gear it accordingly. Better be running it up near 7000 to properly use 4.30s. I happen to have a rat that thrives ther.e

You can start here http://www.chevelles.com/techref/ftecref24.html . I also plugged the engine specs into one of those Dragstrip Dyno something or other programs, and it 'optimized' at a 4,33:1 final drive. Crunch some numbers dude, don't guess.
