To start off with I have no brake lights on my 72 chevelle. Ive got all the other lights on the car working and Im stumped on the brakelights. I put a new switch in at the pedal and it has power there, but still no brake lights? If somebody could let me know what the colors of wires are in the trunk so I can trace down the brake lights that would be great? I have tail lights and turn signals.

Next question,
I switched from points ignition to electronic and Im still running the little ingnition wire to the distrbutor. Is this ok or should I try to run a bigger wire? And how can I run a bigger wire? I can only find hot fuses from the box that are hot with the key on but not hot when turning the motor over. So can I run a big wire from the fuse box along with the little wire thats already there to the distrubtor?

Thanks

The brake lights run through the turn signal switch. If you have turn signals (bright tail lights) the problem is not in the wiring from the turn signal switch to the back of the car.

Look at the switch (is it actually working).

Look at the wire from the switch to the steering column/turn signal switch. Is power getting from the switch to the turn signal?

What kind of electronic system did you install, Pertronics? If so, it needs full 12 volts to work correctly. There should be one or more places on the fuse block that is IGN, that is, will be on when the switch is on or in start position.

Depending on what electronic system you installed, you may need a larger wire.
