Well guys it has happened... I have been smelling anti-freeze for the last 2 months but found nothing. Ben adding water and wishing it just evaporating...lol But Looks like #8 has let loose. I have a shim gasket in there now and talked with a friend of mine and he suggested a fel pro 1010. I'm trying to decide weather to pull the engine and do some other mods, but money is tight right now. If I do pull the engine the B&M gear drive will come out and be replaced with a double roller. I am sure the cam was not degreed in when installed so I can get this done then and check my quench.
Here is my combo, any other things you can think of would improve my combo for a little money??

Scat crank, 5.7 rods, KB hypertetic 2 valve relief pistons, AFR 195 64cc, Comp 284h, stock 1.5 stamped rockers, EDl Air gap intake.

The short block has about 30,000 miles on it, cam intake and heads have about 3,000 on them. If you were to make any changes to this combo what would it be if any??

I'm not sure but maybe you are having problems with compatabilty between the alluminum head and steel shimgasket. Aren't alluminum heads supposed to be used on special gaskets? I bet 3.73 or 4.10 gears would really help your timeslip.

I know there's guys out there doing it, but I wouldn't build an engine with aluminum heads and shim gaskets. Not a good combination, I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. Get some good Fel-Pro head gaskets with pre-flattened copper wire ring and you won't have trouble with it.

Yea,,, I be one of them guys doin it :D

If the surfaces are done correctly, in my opinion there is no problem what so ever with the 1094 FelPro's.
But you have to have the capability of getting very smooth finishes on both the head & block.
I prefer 20RA or better on the head & 50 or better on the block. This is very smooth.
I have used them in a number of street engines & have a couple of over 12.0 compression circle track deals that have been happy all season, actually one has been running for almost two seasons now.
The 1094 is the coated steel shim .015 gasket.

But,,, my preference is the standard FelPro performance type gasket or Cometic MLS. ;)
