Made my last trip to the track for the season (and possibly for this motor - 383 in the works). Missed my goal of 11.99 but logged a new best of 12.019 @ 112.76. Previous best was 12.232 @ 111.55. Changes to the car were: 1.6 rockers, electric fan, removed 1" 4-hole spacer, and switched from 275/50 BFG drag radials to M/T 28 X 9.5 slicks. 60's dropped from 1.86 to 1.74. Shifted at 6200.
Here is the slip:

60' 1.742
330' 4.966
1/8 7.662
MPH 90.57
1000' 9.954
1/4 12.019
MPH 112.76

I hope someone finds this information useful.

Hi Chris, Nice going. graemlins/thumbsup.gif Just .02 away??? graemlins/clonk.gif

I thought I might get to the track today but I just ran out of time to get the things done that were needed. This was the last weekend for racing this season for the nearest track. :(

Thanks, Rod. Only .02 :( We tried everthing we could think of in 10 runs to get that .02 but nothing worked. Now the second-guessing games begin - did we have too much air in the slicks or not enough, did I spin it too high, too low. Too much fuel in the tank? Should I have stayed with the 26" tires instead of going to the 28's? Should we have changed the rear shocks from 50/50 to 60/40... At the end of day I have to say I'm happy with the season and the performance of the motor. Now, when are you going to have some new times to post! tongue.gif

BTW, what are your overall thoughts on that cam now that you've been running it for awhile. Gonna' use it in the 383?

My thoughts are;

You would have picked up a 11.8? slip with 750DP,opening your lash a bit (to make the cam seem a little smaller),26-8.5 M/T SLICKS and a little suspention work.

I went over my timeslips again this morning and found I had actually pulled a 1.70 60' on a run that I accidently shifted from 1st to 2nd at 5000 RPM. :( You were right, Rod, it's going to be a REALLY long winter!

i also agree on the carb change. i have never gotten a VS carb to work as good as a 4150dp. always picked up my 60's with the double pumper, as long as i had the gear and convertor to take advantage of it. with the little F/T 355 i had in my Chevelle my 60's were 1.73-1.76 with a dp and 1.80's was the best with a thoroughly tuned 3310 VS.
