hey guys, how do you tell the difference between an original or reproduction 3 spoke wood grain wheel? Are there any part #'s that the original would have on it? Thanks........Tom

Tom, not much help, but normally the repro wheel has a high gloss finish and the originals have more of a semi-gloss finish to them.

Hopefully someone else will chime in.

I have an original rosewood steering wheel on my car. About the only way I can tell is the color of the epoxy (wheel) and the grain in the wheel and also how the stainless steel 3 spokes are mounted into the wheel.
I would say the repops are darker with a more glossy finish and not a defined in the grain in the wheel, and not as clean where the 3 spokes go into the wheel.

No part numbers, and the NEW version of the OER is much more correct than in previous years. It's pretty hard to tell an original from the new OER reproduction wheel IMO.

Are the originals worth anything? I think I have an original on my 69 car, but I'm not sure.

An NOS one recently sold for something like $5000 or $6000 on ebay if I remember correctly. (but that was NOS)

How do you post the thumbnails? I have a pic of it, but I don't think it is as dark as yours. That one is real nice. It seems like mine is a lighter color

To post the thumbnail I go to my pictures in photobucket and when I see the small thumbnail pictures I carefully highlight the picture and hit CTRL and the letter V that will Copy the picture then to paste it in the thread I hit the CTRL and the letter V=Paste:D
The tricky part is getting just the small picture to highlight, you have to put your cursur at one of the corners of the picture then highlight it.

I know Bad Brad meant Control-C to copy. I have a repop rosewood wheel and it is as shiny as heck. I like the look of Brad's a lot! You can really tell the difference--especially in the detail. Mine looks as if it were painted on (which I think it was). I'm wondering if I should sand it down a bit. Hmmm.
