I just want to test the water here. Its been a dream of mine to put EFI on the velle for a long time. I looked at systems a few years ago, but I have not recently, and don't know who to look at in the field really..
I have the "itch" to do it, and I know some of you may scream heathen, but, I can deal with the screaming of an EFI BB..
What are the real options out there for a BB? What is the total cost involved, including fuel pump, assuming I would install it myself over the winter?
I also have a question about intakes to use for EFI. Alot of the "systems" I see (and I don't know which ones work well), use a modified regular carb manifold.
I was under the impression that EFI can take advantage of different manifold designs to increase torque but not have HP suffer.
As far as I can tell, the only system that uses its own manifold is the Accel DFI.
Assume my engine never goes beyond a 496 (the next time it needs freshening, go from 4.282 bore to 4.310, and _maybe_ add a stroker crank since I would be buying new pistons anyway, this is a few years down the road anyway, and I would be hesitant to deal with the increased power because I would have to retweak my converter and governor again.
What are the best options right now?
So on and so forth..
And as far as manifolds go, if you have to go with a carb manifold (assuming it makes no difference?) do I keep with a regular perfomer RPM or do I go to like a vic jr or another single plane? The motor has a 2600-6500 powerband, above or below is essentially useless..
Basically, I am looking for total cost involved and who has what and what makes it good..
