Rock68SS Dec 2nd, 03, 9:28 AM I've called Harold's number at Lunati probably a dozen times with no success. He did respond on e-mail in early November and gave me a similar recommendation. I ordered through FRC in Nebraska on November 3rd but I found out yesterday there is a problem with Harold's 288/296 profiles. I called Harold yesterday 3 times and left messages but haven't heard anything yet. graemlins/sad.gif graemlins/sad.gif
I'm pursuing other options until I here from him.
Good Luck
rpol78 Dec 2nd, 03, 8:00 PM Stefan,
Look at this post http://www.chevelles.com/cgi-bin/forum/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=4;t=017715;p=2. Mark had a new one for sale.
I've tried to get a recomendation from Harold for 5 months and never heard back from him. Basicially I've given up and am going to go with Comp Cams new 290S.
Rock68SS Dec 2nd, 03, 9:01 PM I wrote he said he was waiting on another interested party. Thanks for the heads up. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
1968 hot rod Dec 2nd, 03, 10:03 PM then go to Bullet cams 1-662-893-5670 1 week turnaround for a custom cam.
Harold made some nice quality stuff ,used it myself but they are not magical.

AdamLym Dec 2nd, 03, 10:51 PM Harold was having computer virus issues and just got back online today, according to another website he posts on.
Stefan B Dec 3rd, 03, 2:20 AM Thanks for the reply's !
Mr 4 speed. My english is'nt that good so I think talking on the phone would be a problem for me.
So I try to deal through e-mails and just get a partnumber and place the order. But if that would be a problem I have to get on the phone and hope UDHarold have patience whit my english ! ;)
I have runned my new combo in dragstrip plus and the pogram realy liked the solid 288/296F10 for my new 454, and it also put out the numbers I liked for my new combo. smile.gif
So I stay whit the cam that Harold recommended for me.
Adamlym. The info about the virus issues is appreciated. I try to send a new e-mail to UDHarold and se if I hear back from him.
Stefan B.

JRS70LS5 Dec 3rd, 03, 1:06 PM Stefan that cam is worth waiting for, excelant street manners and plenty of punch.I see your running 820 heads the same as mine. The cam doesn't give alot of vaccume around 7" so with power brakes they will be a little hard,I use a vaccume can and get three good pumps then you have to stand on them,I need to hook up a vaccume pump but i'm not sure of the best way to go about it. Good luck with your cam and break it in with single springs then put in the doubles. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Stefan B Dec 3rd, 03, 3:15 PM Thank you all for sharing the info !
427L88.I'm in no hurry.I has just nailed down my new combo (In my garage is:454 block 4.00 crank 820 heads with 2.19/1.88 valves KB207 pistons rpm intake th400 ) I have started to collect parts and I wont start the building before I got all the parts I want for the chevelle.I want this car to be exactly right for me. And I can finnish reubilding the Th400 or put new driveshafts in the 12 bolt rearend first if I want and save the fun ( engine building :D )to later.
So waiting for that cam is not a problem. Just wanted to get ahold of how to purchase it.
I would watch this great site and look for the info about when UDHarold have sorted things out , and then I try again.
JRS70LS5.Thanks for the brake in tip. How is the 820 heads working out for you ? and have you done any portwork on them ?

Good Luck What problems have you heard about and have you had any feedback from Harold about this ? That is the cam I think I am going with after all...
427L88 Dec 3rd, 03, 3:35 PM John, think he refers to be fact that the cam master is damaged ???
JRS70LS5 Dec 4th, 03, 12:46 AM I ported the heads last winter when I was building the engine.I also gasket matched the heads and intake. It took me while to port the heads it was my first time, but I had all winter so no need to hurry.I also unshrouded the intake valve the exhaust doesn't need it with the laid back area!I'm happy with the way it runs, wish I had some track time but there's always next year. graemlins/waving.gif
Stefan B Dec 4th, 03, 6:02 AM JRS70LS5. Same here, long winter and short summer. So there is plenty of time to spend in the garage. smile.gif I have only put in the bigger valves and new bronze guides in my 820's.And for the moment they are on the 408 BB in the car and I will probably spend some more time on them before they go on the 454.
I looked at your link ( is that the right word ?)
in your signature ( nice car !) and your engine is very similar to what I will build.
One more question for you is what rockers are you running ?
I also looked on CHRIS_69_SS pictures and video and he has the stock chrome valve covers on with the 288/296F10 cam. So I wonder what rockers are he using?
I would like to use the stock covers too and have the 396 turbojet/325 hp sticker on the air cleaner.... :D
I listened to the sound of Chris car in the video and that was nice !
when I had purchased my chevelle the cam ( crane fireball 300 )had 3 exhaust lobes totally wiped out (interfernce between retrainer and valveguide )and the car started fine and was quite driveabel, but popped tremendosly in the intake when you hit the loud pedal under load.
So I made a soundclip of it before I reubild the 402 to 408. smile.gif
If you want to listen to it , use this link and when you see the page use the "V8 soundet" to the left. If You want to see the chevelle there is also som pictures on it.

427L88 Dec 4th, 03, 8:48 AM Is that an X-pipe exhaust, or do you have a V10!? smile.gif
This is cool, looks like my old neighborhood
http://hem.passagen.se/amcar/
Whoops, clic on " Pa cruising"
Stefan B Dec 4th, 03, 9:45 AM well, when the exhaust sound clip was made it had dual exhaust with no H-pipe and 3 totally wasted exhaust lobes, so can it be a V 5 and 3/4 ?? ;)
A previous owner had put in a crane fireball 300 camshaft and "forget" to check the valvelift with the retrainer to guide freeplay. So the retrainer was hitting the valveguide/seal and pounded 3 exhaust lobes (more lift on the exhaust and on the intake ) and lifters to pieces who went through the crank and rod bearings ..... :(
But now ,after I had reubilt the engine , it had run fine for about 2 years. So I'm now ready to take the chevelle to the next level.
The pictures are from around here and some of the pictures at "pa cruising" is taken in the middle of the night. (The land of the midnight sun you know.) a short period of the year the sun is up over 20 hours a day. graemlins/waving.gif

mr 4 speed Dec 4th, 03, 9:55 AM Stefan, nice looking 66 SS you got there
Love the black w/red interior graemlins/thumbsup.gif
JRS70LS5 Dec 4th, 03, 12:28 PM Stefan I'm using the Harlandsharp roller rockers and i'm also using the stock chrome valve covers.I had to radius the corner on two of the rocker arms just a little bit near the baffles, they were touching lightly so I radiused them with a bench grinder.Didn't remove much material and I have read about others doing this to. graemlins/waving.gif
Stefan B Dec 4th, 03, 3:22 PM JRS70LS5 thank's for the info ! I will look up these roller rockers. Would be very nice to use the stock chrome valve covers for the fairly stock looks when you pop the hood.
