I was having a discussion with a guy at the upholstery shop yesterday and it got me wondering. My car has an orig interior in it that needs just minor touch ups. He says I should leave it alone and that these are battle scars for a car this age. To an extent I agree with him but I think it would be better to replace the few parts that I think would bring it back to like new condition. What is your take fix it or leave it

A photo would help. Original is Original only once. But in my opinion, it's only a good rule if it's well preserved.
Bloomington describes restoring a well preserved Original as Vandalism.
But, Battle scars is a very vague description, and a worn, torn faded seat, although original, would hurt value more than help.
Unless the car is in such good original condition that it could possibly be a "Survivor" Class vehicle, A little tidying up shouldn't hurt.
But without photos of the condition it's in, it's all speculation.
With reasonably presentable cosmetics though, it's always best to keep it in original condition.
I didn't vote due to the amount of variables in the question, but if your only talking a couple beat up trim parts in an otherwise perfect interior, I would hunt for NOS replacements before I restored.
If it's tatterred seat covers that are no longer presentable, I'd replace.

Replace it if thats what you want. It can only be original once, but everyone can have an original car. You can have it how you want.

Maybe you could post a pic or give a better description.
Personally, I like originality.
