I love the sound of a chambered muffler, as far as I knew they had been off the market for a long time. I'll bookmark your page and order a set when I can.

Jason, I am currently running 3" duals w/ Pypes Race Pro's. WOT it is not only loud but to me sounds too much like a glass packs. I am considering options to not only quiet it down but also change the tone. I would think a pair of these installed in front of the Race Pro's may do it. I would assume the Race Pro would act more like a resonator when combined in line with the Chambered Muffler. Do you have any experience with this?

These will definently change the tone. The chambered muffler does not have packing in it, just louvered core and the dimpled body which makes the chambers within the muffler. I dont think you will get the full chambered sound, the RacePro will take too much away from the chambered muffler. Generally we use another smaller chambered muffler in front of the bigger one to quiet it down or we use a Cobra Pack muffler which is a packed perforated core muffler.

Joe,the X pipe will get rid of that glasspack sound..we installed Race Pros on a 68 GTO and it had the glasspack thing going..then,we installed the X pipe and that took care of it real quick.

So you know what I am talking about Chris. At low throttle cruise it sounds decent, but at WOT, sounds like I have old fashioned Cherry Bombs underneath. Last motor wasn't this bad, but I think the jump to the Dart heads, the motor just flows a lot more. No time slips yet (haven't had a chance to get there), but this motor is a lot stronger everywhere. First thing I noticed was how much more pronounced the exhaust is. Here's what's crazy. Drove the car last year with basically stripped interior - carpet and head liner were out as was the sound deadener, had sound deadener on the floor, but that was it. Package tray was also out. Car is now done with all new sound deadener, carpet, trunk mat, even the vinyl top helps to dampen sound. Last year was like riding in a drum, it reverberated so bad inside. Even after all that, it is louder this year with no more than 10 extra CI and the better heads.

Joe,I am not a fan of that glasspack sound..and neither was the customer. I was very suprised on how the X got rid of it. I am not sure if a longer case muffler would help..the Race Pros on the car where 14" case I believe..here is a picture. Customer was very happy with it afterwards

The X pipe does indeed make a signifigant difference. I took mine off and the car got much louder, which I like b/c it was a little too quiet with these 22" muffs combined with the X. Still quiet at idle and cruise, much louder at WOT. And I got a bit of a "rap" now that I love. Maybe that's the glasspack sound you guys are talking about.

I have the 18" Race Pro. You would be amazed at how loud this car is at WOT. At WOT, it sound like it has too small of an exhaust sytem, the crackle is that pronounced.

Joe,I bet you would get the sound you want with the X since you have an 18"
It would be fairly quiet too..that GTO is still loud with the small case mufflers but it doesn't have the glasspacky thing going on with the X
