I made the mistake of gathering up all the gas receipts from me, my wife and two kids so far this month. As of the 16th, I have spent $764.29 on gas and diesel. This is just normal in-town driving -- no long trips!

How much have you spent?

I have to fill up, on average, 2.5 times a month. This will be a month I have to fill up 3 times.

It's about $60 to fill up with diesel. If I didn't get ~50 mpg and 620 miles to a tank, I'd be filling up an average of 2.5 times a week.

Less than $100.00 just going too and from work.
2000 F-150 4.6L 4x4
BUT I drive at the posted speed limit. And I don't race up to stop lights and lay on the brakes. I see it (light) turning so I slow down and take my time.

Makes a big difference on the fuel...

Sounds like you must be driving a VW? My fill up at the diesel pump runs about $90-$95 every week (F-250 getting ~14.3 mpg). The sad part is that when I bought the truck, diesel was less expensive than gas. What a difference 18 months makes.

Let's just say I've stopped using the 2500 Silverado Duramax as a daily driver @ $5.00/gallon.

Ive spent almost $300 but thats because my girl drives a 2003 Mustang and she doesnt exactly drive like a saint. My fill ups are done at the house! I make my own bio-diesel and it only costs me roughly $0.70 a gallon to make. If it werent for that I would be over the $500 mark for sure. The bio only gets me about 27mpg, compared to diesel from the pump which gets me about 31mpg. I think its a very very reasonable trade off

I drive alot, hunting, fishing, long commutes. I checked back in JAN/Feb, and between my wife and I it was about 900. Last week I spend $826. But that was the Hot Rod Power Tour. Just under 2800 miles, 13.32 average mpg overall, 217 gallons. Gas is still a bargain compared to other countries.

It is 8 miles round trip to take the wife to work and pick her up (she can't drive a manual) then I drive about the same across town to give the kids dog her pill 5 days a week.
We have a Focus with a 5 speed and short shifting I have been able to get 28-30mpg around town with it.

If I had to guess it would be about $150. I filled the Chevelle up a couple days ago. Eleven gallons was almost $60. I've had to fill up my grandmas car a couple times and that was about $80 or so.

Maybe she should learn to drive a stick. ;)

Nothing too difficult at all about it.

Bad month to run a poll on gas! 1600 miles round trip to CB-08 in the bus at 8MPG and another 5-600 in the Chevelle doing a couple of days on the Power Tour and our DDr's just around here, probably over $1200 and only the 18th of the month! Worth every nickel, been a pretty wild month so far:beers:!

Lets see. truck takes $400 month for trips to work. Add another 50-100 if I do anything on weekends, Chevelle = $50 weekend x4 and wife spends about $250 month.

So on a good month, $900 on a bad month $950. But it's swampa$$ season righ now so I'm not driving he Chevelle too much. so you can cut ~$150-$200 off that. But then again did I mention it's swampa$$ season? Elec bill goes from ~$150/month to ~ $500.

Maybe she should learn to drive a stick. ;)

Nothing too difficult at all about it.

Took her out to learn to drive just before I shipped to Vietnam in 1970. It was a 66 GTO 4 speed. Quiet lane in an empty state park. When she went for third she turned the wheel the same direction she was pushing the shifter and hit a tree at the edge of the road! Could not get her to drive again until 1984!!! She was 29 when she got her license. Learned in a 79 Olds Custom Cruiser deisel wagon!:D
She still refuses to learn to drive a stick shift!

How does that happen?

I remember the joys of learning to drive the Chevelle though. :D

2.5 gph x 35 hrs a week fishing plus 25 gal every week and a half for diesel for the truck plus daily driving average 1500-2000 dollars a month. It sucks that the petro companies have us by the shorts and may put me out of busness.:boxing:

well i fill up about twice a week. mon morning and that last me till fri. usually i use a full tank on weekends running around with the kids and wife. a full tank runs me about $120
(30gallon tank). so that puts me to about $240 / week

Myself, $16 so far. Knockin' down an average of 42.5mpg on the bike to work and back. Wife has spent probably $150 between the Durango and her Solstice. I try to get her to drive the Solstice more, as it gets around 23mpg vs. 14.2 in the Durango, but she doesn't like to drive it if it's dirty. Of course, she parks next to a construction zone at work, so it's dirty every day.

I'm retired so I don't have to drive, its one mile to the grocery store, and this little Hyundai Accent, ratmobile, cornpopper, its got the front end that every body hates:mad:, including me, that thing is uglier then me, the back end looks respectable. gets about 35 to the gallon, I guess, never checked it. I won't drive the pickup unless its an emergency:), my other driver is the Honda Ruckus scooter, I think they get about 115 miles to the gallon.

So I'll take a guess for just the car, maybe $30 or $40 a month. $4 for the scooter if I drive a lot, probably more like a $1 a month, the pickup, in two and a half years maybe $75. But I feel for you guys that have to drive to work and take your children places.

Curiosity got the best of me. I checked my account from 5/15 to 6/15, and came up with $1696 for gas. Without the 800 somthing from the Power Tour, it's still about $850 per month for my wife and I.

I put 20 dollars a week in the minivan. I try to do what I can all in as few of trips as possible. I have a company vehicle, so I don't pay for gas on that, and I work from my house, so there is no travelling to work, I just walk out to the driveway and I am on the clock.

I work at home, so its only putting around that I pay for.

The wife commutes 60 miles a day in her 04 beetle, which gets pretty good mileage, 30+.

Not me, I still drive my Duramax everyday. 500hp with the tune and exhaust... Still getting 21-22 mpg. I refuse to drive a import, I'll walk first. :)

look i don't know what I spent. I'm not made of $$$ but hell I have to buy it ! So i don;t worry about something I have no control of. I just try and drive a little less. Never get on it from a light. Or pass some one. But now driving the CHEVELLE. Now thats another story. I was out to day took off from a light kind of hard. Passed some guy doing 45 in a 60. Sure made me feel good. With premium going around $ 4;15. But man it still felt good to hear that car get up & GO!!! Screw it. Its not every day. ha ha ha

Fortunately for me, I park the Dump truck in my driveway. I fill my P/UP up once a month at about $50 in the winter. With warmer weather, I ride my bike more. Costs about $12 to fill it up maybe twice a month. This cuts my truck usage by about 75%.

BTW. I burn about 350gal. a week in the dump. 350x4 @ $4.65 = $6510.00 a month. Glad my boss pays the fuel bill!!!

Lessee, my '71 truck gets about 15 on the freeway, 66 miles round trip, about $20 for that.

My Bonneville gets 28 on the freeway, so that's about $11 round trip.

4 days a week to work for me, one trip in the truck and 3 in the Pontiac on average.

$212 a month for commuting, at a min. Sometimes I will drive my truck 2X but that's if it's cool enough outside. Yes, no A/C and I am a wimp :)

Wife works 3 miles from work so that's another $20 a week at most for errands around town and her drive 5X a week.

OK, $300 a month min.

If the Chevelle gets the nod to drive to work one day, add $25 to that for each day.

Some of you are spending quite a bit, wow.
