I am trying to dye a set of seat belts from blue to black but not havinuch luck. I used the Rit powered dye and let the belts soak overnight but they still were blue. Any suggestions?

I sprayed a set with vinyl dye that I bought at Autozone. Seemed to work after 2 or 3 coats.
