: July 11th TNT @ Bremerton
FourEightyNine Jun 17th, 08, 1:35 AM This looks like its gona be the next TNT event that I will be going to. I might have to go to an actual bracket race on an earlier sat/sun if the motor feels like a whole new animal with the new cam timing.
Anyone else planning on making it to this one?
Dave Jun 17th, 08, 2:02 AM I'll be up in the North Cascade's, on the annual family camping trip/Dave's gonna go postal on His Family Weekend.:D
gotago Jun 17th, 08, 5:42 AM Good luck BrIan:thumbsup: I'm headed to the track tomorrow for TnT, and then I might run the Midnite Madness this coming weekend. I got the spacer on, and the shifter changed, just have to get it to the track.
66SSFan Jun 17th, 08, 8:12 AM Going camping on the canal. Do some boating and drop a few crab pots ect. Next time though:D

Take her for a couple of passes on the strip, that will induce labor. They have an ambulance and paramedics at the track, don't they?:) All kidding aside, hope all goes well, and you can send me a fine cigar:thumbsup:
kettbo Jun 17th, 08, 12:03 PM 11 JULY would be a good debut for some RATMeeno power.....

On second thought the wife might not like that idea too much:D
You will be busy for a couple months Ben, I'm excited for you two. You will be great parents.
RAMBO Jun 17th, 08, 4:33 PM Hey, would should all show up with the TC banner for the big day:thumbsup:

So, I won't be racing, but I'm sure the wife will.... To get him out!
Dave Jun 17th, 08, 7:44 PM the honey-dos will never get done.....
That's right, Time to push Them aside for awhile.
OutCast Jun 17th, 08, 11:45 PM I'd like to be there, but that's the next weekend I get to run at Victoria.

Hee Hee Hee :D
FourEightyNine Jun 18th, 08, 12:01 AM John, are you gona have your new carb all ready to go by then?
Definitely gona want to see you down here at your best. The weather is getting more like summer around here now, so we should have an outing like the last time. Also I wana race you at your best all dialed in and on the juice:yes:
OutCast Jun 18th, 08, 12:11 AM John, are you gona have your new carb all ready to go by then?

65lkey Jul 3rd, 08, 1:16 AM ok I'm going to bump this thread. I'm planning to be there, I got lug nuts for me slicks, put in my driveshaft loop, find a helmet and I'm ready.
1966malibu Jul 3rd, 08, 2:14 AM Paul, are you getting a little excited about your first outing at the track :D.
I REALLY don't wanna go Camping.
FourEightyNine Jul 3rd, 08, 3:11 AM I am planning on going to the 11th still. If all goes well this Sunday I will be trying out a different suspension setup out back. Really gotta yard the wheels:D
Maybe I will be lucky and win this sunday and put that 700$ into my fibergalss body panels:yes:
1966malibu Jul 3rd, 08, 3:37 AM Still trying to get the day off, I probably will not know until the morning of the 11th if I will be able to go .

gotago Jul 3rd, 08, 11:51 AM I'd like to see another BrIan vs BrYan........assuming that someone wakes BrYan up when he's staged!!;)
Kevin R Jul 3rd, 08, 6:50 PM Motor may be assembled by then but no way it will be in the car running unless I take all next week off and thats not going to happen:noway:
FRYNTYR Jul 3rd, 08, 7:33 PM Hmmm! I'm on day shift now and wouldn't have to take the day off. Hmm!
66 Buick Special Jul 3rd, 08, 7:57 PM Welcome back to day shift.:hurray::beers:
Is it for the summer or just temporary?
65lkey Jul 3rd, 08, 8:04 PM Paul, are you getting a little excited about your first outing at the track :D.
just a little I've set my goals low, if I can run a 14 i will be happy. ran into a little trouble with my slicks, the rims have the wrong offset so I have to change them to some rallys I have. I just hope slicks will let me hook because with my radials i can spin them all the way through 1st and 2nd:hurray:
Red Rocket Racing Jul 3rd, 08, 9:15 PM I am going to try to make this one with the truck.
I hit the Wed T&T at Pacific and made a few 11.14-11.18 passes on a horrible track (raining and 80 dregrees) My mph was WAY down 120 mph instead of a normal 129 mph I looking forward to seeing a couple 10 second runs on fuel then I will throw some nitrous at her
66SSFan Jul 4th, 08, 1:22 AM Damn, wish I could make this one. Sounds like a good turn out and the weather should be great.
FourEightyNine Jul 4th, 08, 1:38 AM Can you say 10% chance sunny:D
yanniz Jul 4th, 08, 1:46 AM still planning on being there....hopefully the weather will hold..
65lkey Jul 4th, 08, 5:23 PM hey what time do the gates open and races start?
FourEightyNine Jul 4th, 08, 5:29 PM The gates open at 3, hopefully racing by 4:D
I get there by 2 to get a good spot in line so I dont have to idle for a long time, also fun to BS with people there.
65lkey Jul 4th, 08, 7:30 PM ok as long as I don't run into any hiccups I will be there I'll be in a white dodge dually with some girlie graphics on it, plus you'll see my car
67TurboChevelle Jul 7th, 08, 12:02 AM If I get the trans back apart and back together, I'll be making the trek up for Friday TNT in prep for the Turbo Thunder race on Saturday.
FourEightyNine Jul 7th, 08, 12:05 AM If I get the trans back apart and back together, I'll be making the trek up for Friday TNT in prep for the Turbo Thunder race on Saturday.

Kevin R Jul 7th, 08, 10:57 PM nope you cant come you already said no.:D
Are you gona race the scion to work on your lights?
Fine then I will just stay home and put some break in time on the new cam:D
FourEightyNine Jul 7th, 08, 11:12 PM Sounds great! Then you can break the rings in on your way over to the race track friday afternoon.
1966malibu Jul 7th, 08, 11:27 PM What a great way to break the new motor in. A relaxing cruise to see your friends at the track ;).
1966malibu Jul 10th, 08, 1:34 AM I just went out to the garage and opened a jug of VHT, just so I could remind myself what the track smells like (thats is so sad ). I think I need professional help or a intervention or maybe just the day off Friday. If they don't give me the day off I might come down with Mustraceitis and there is only one cure for that disease :D.
FourEightyNine Jul 10th, 08, 1:40 AM I think you have already figured that out greg.:D

http://i.treehugger.com/files/th_images/ups_truck.jpg
That is one beaching Brown ride.
66 Buick Special Jul 10th, 08, 7:45 AM Greg is there a site that we can use to contact your employer and vote for the new flamed version of the trucks? Personally I think some should get the old school flames and others get the tru-flame jobs. :D
I think wheel choices would be cool too.
Dave,
Why don't you pick up two of these:

and then pick up this....

put it all in your backpack. Then spend the whole campout staging your own races. Maybe next year she'll let you camp at the track.:D
65lkey Jul 10th, 08, 4:16 PM ok guys I'm not gonna make it tomorrow. Money's getting tight with this new big block and my dad and I are buying a 64 el camino soo maybe later July or august. Also I'm trying to get my car "done" for the aces show in oregon. so I'll see you guys sometime and maybe run down the track. maybe if I get time I'll cruise up there in my honda that way it will only cost me like $15 round trip haha
1966malibu Jul 10th, 08, 10:46 PM Found out after I finished my route today that they have enough people to cover my route tomorrow. So I have the day off :hurray:. See you all at the track!
FRYNTYR Jul 10th, 08, 10:52 PM Gonna load the nova on the trailer by 9:00 PM tonight so it's ready for tomorrow. Try to head home from work bt 11:00 AM tomorrow and leave the house by 12:00 noon...
66 Buick Special Jul 11th, 08, 12:33 AM Darryl, I just asked in the other thread when you were leaving.. I see that you already posted it.:D
67TurboChevelle Jul 11th, 08, 12:47 AM I just finished up the instal on the trans about half hour ago

Of course the real fun starts on Saturday with Turbo Thunder and the NPSA race :hurray:
FourEightyNine Jul 11th, 08, 1:04 AM Everything is wired and ready to rock and roll. I think I will leave around 2:59 hope I dont get stuck in traffic:D

FRYNTYR Jul 11th, 08, 1:06 AM I'm loaded and ready to go.
1966malibu Jul 12th, 08, 2:41 AM I had a great outing this time. I can now say I have a 13 second car :hurray:. I made 19 passes today and was able to get 5 runs down in the high 13 sec range my best being 13.74 @ 99.98 . It was a little strange my car seemed to like the warmer weather. The track temp also seemed to agree with my BFG's . I had several 2.00 60ft times .
Its was great meeting you Yanni.
Corey your car is sweet I love the the sound it puts off at the top end of the track.
Brian its always fun to race against you even though you kick my a$$ .
Bryan the Heavy Chevy always looks bad a$$ and run great.
Doc sorry about the gasket issue. But it was cool that your boy got in as many passes as you did ;). I was honored that you trusted me with him. It was a blast to see the grin on his face after all those runs :D.
OutCast Jul 12th, 08, 3:37 AM I had a great outing this time. I can now say I have a 13 second car :hurray:. I made 19 passes today and was able to get 5 runs down in the high 13 sec range my best being 13.74 @ 99.98 . :D.
Congratulations, Greg. :beers:
You sure get your moneys worth. :D 19 runs...what the heck, you pack a tidy-tank in that thing ?

67TurboChevelle Jul 12th, 08, 10:14 AM It was nice meeting you guys lastnight. Sorry I didn't hang out too much, I was still having issues. The car wouldn't start after my third pass. It ended being my dist. Cap, the center carbin post was gone. I hope that was my performance issue. Another racer that is comming up this morning is bringing me one

I just had that same problem. MSD makes a low resistance contact that is solid brass. Solved my problem. JFYI
66 Buick Special Jul 12th, 08, 11:05 AM I made 19 passes today and was able to get 5 runs down in the high 13 sec range my best being 13.74 @ 99.98
Congratulations Greg, that's a big improvement!:hurray::beers:
I wonder how much a set of 26" drag radials would cut off of that time.
FourEightyNine Jul 12th, 08, 1:07 PM Here is some video that was taken by BrYan and Greg. Thanks Guys, unfortunately both of my videos are of my passes where I didnt hook, that will be fixed for next time out:yes:, I am pumped at the amount of wheelie it did, granted it wasnt high but it carried them like a pro stock:D

FourEightyNine Jul 12th, 08, 7:55 PM The one time having a slow car really payed off:D, that was very cool to see shawn be able to make some passes with greg:yes:
It was good to meet Yanni and corey.
Yanni you need to invest in some slicks for that beast:yes:, hopefully you get everything checked out and worked out.
Corey, hopefully you got your msd cap today and were able to make some passes and go some rounds. Even with a blown out cap you still smoked all of us:thumbsup:
Dont worry Darryl just be thankful I let you off the hook yesterday. We will have our race, once you have the 427 and I get mine sorted all out with some weight loss. It iwll just come down to who is better at the tree.
yanniz Jul 13th, 08, 10:31 AM hey guys,
nice meeting you and your beautiful cars....Greg that blue 66 is so nice, and Brian's car rocked...sooooooo close...and looking forward to see Darryl with a BB next time:)
valve train is fine but it looks like I have a problem with my fuel pump...I crawled to the ferry terminal at 5 psi (had it set at 7) and every time I gave it some gas it was down to 2 psi....lots of grinding and noise from it as well..
I wonder if that explains the starting "challenges" that I was having for the first time on Friday, even though they went away eventually...
also, I think my PCV system is not working...kept blowing the dip stick and had a bunch of oil on that side of the engine..
I might give in and get some better tires I guess for the track...need to order a new fuel pump et cetera, so I will get some wheels and tires coming as well...maybe I can get those 600 lbs springs out of the front and loosen it up some....
Hopefully I will get some time to work on it and get out again soon...business has been crazy lately, I was on the phone half the night Friday at the track working!!
Kevin R Jul 13th, 08, 11:02 AM Hey Yanniz Cool bunch of guys huh:thumbsup: Your car sounds wicked with the turbo. Get it sorted out and come back for more fun. Hopefully I will be there with the fire breathing 427:D
66 Buick Special Jul 13th, 08, 11:17 AM Thanks for the pics and vids!
It gave me something to watch while I had my morning coffee before heading to work.:D
Corey that turbo sounds bad azz and your car leaves hard.
Yanni, that John Force burnoff at the tree looked cool but it doesn't help your ET:noway: Obviously some new rubber will be a huge help.
Sorry to hear you were having problems. Hope that it's just a fuel pump and pcv valve.
yanniz Jul 13th, 08, 11:19 AM Hey Kevin,
the turbo car is not mine....I have the bright/crappy paint job yellow car on the left lane on the last video at the top of this page on Brian's post...
watched the video in slow motion and it looks like I am desperate for some weight transfer on this darn thing....looks like it tried but then settled down right away and started spinning...
Kevin R Jul 13th, 08, 3:13 PM Hey Kevin,
the turbo car is not mine....I have the bright/crappy paint job yellow car on the left lane on the last video at the top of this page on Brian's post...
watched the video in slow motion and it looks like I am desperate for some weight transfer on this darn thing....looks like it tried but then settled down right away and started spinning...
Duh my mistake. I saw your wheel spining launch againt another yellow velle that I wont mention as he has a big head:D
Corey nice chevelle with a turbo:p I will get it straight here in a min. Im still not right after I lit off my fire breathing 427 yesturday.:D:D
I will see ya all soon:yes:
Dave Jul 13th, 08, 5:32 PM How come all the cool stuff happens when I'm gone. Last time I was at that track, it pissed all day.
66SSFan Jul 13th, 08, 5:48 PM Got back from the campout about an hour ago, looks lke every one had a good time! Sorry I missed out on meet you guys corey and yanniz, nice looking cars:thumbsup:
I hope to make the next outing with a running car and be able to hang out for a while. Congrats on the new times too!
67TurboChevelle Jul 13th, 08, 8:46 PM Thanks for all the kind words guys.
I watched all the vids, boy some of the big blocks are leaving nice.
I had to run into Bremerton Saturday morning to get the right cap for my car. It fired right up after putting a new cap and rotor on. My performance was still down though, I think my best mph was just shy of 142.
Yanniz, did you identify what was making the noise? Was it a rocker starting to come loose?
You know as hard as my car looks like it leaves, I think my best 60' over the weekend was a 1.64ish. The trans is coming out of the car and I'm going to put a TH400 in it to get the 60's down there.
I'll keep a lookout for any other special races you guys may be doing up there.
gotago Jul 13th, 08, 10:31 PM How come all the cool stuff happens when I'm gone.
You noticed that too, huh?:D
FRYNTYR Jul 14th, 08, 12:25 AM I should have the top end pulled down on the nova by Wednesday and see how blown the head gasket is. Should be a quick easy fix but gonna drop the pan to make sure I didn't bend the rod, possble hydrolock situation.
FourEightyNine Jul 14th, 08, 12:34 AM Not just gona yard the beast and let her sit in the corner? I think another motor is gona start getting pretty testy the longer you hold out on her:D
kettbo Jul 14th, 08, 1:51 AM As long as "she puts out" the Berg-Meister will hit it.
dreis454 Jul 14th, 08, 6:06 AM Brian, I think I saw why you were having some traction probs.
In the videos you were doing your burnout IN the water....a big :noway:
Next time roll through & 'spin' em to just 'coat' them, roll up about a foot or enough to get out of the water & then do your thing.
The way you did it in the videos, you rolled through more water AFTER you heated them up & probably still had some on the tires @ the line.
Bob West Jul 14th, 08, 6:33 AM I see lots of folks spin their tires in the water but I dont even do that. I roll slowly thru the water, make sure that I'm out of it and then do my burnout. Spinning your tires in the water can throw water up inside your wheel well, then while you are staging that water can drip right back down on your slicks.
dreis454 Jul 14th, 08, 8:05 AM good point Bob...thats how I used to heat my tires too.
I'm glad you posted because I really didn't mean 'spin em' like I said but rather just 'tap' the throttle to get the tires wet all the way around.
didja see what I mean in the vids?
FourEightyNine Jul 14th, 08, 6:09 PM Ok thanks guys I will change that right away. Yah looking at some old video I would do the same but hold the burnout alot longer coming out of the box.
Also it looks like lately I have been getting sideways in the water box, I havent been really jumping on the throttle like I should be.
New procedure next time out.
