My 350 hopped up cam edelbrock rpm intake edelbrock 600cfm carb. other than that internals stock. When the motor is warm it feels slugish and rpms wind up slow. especially off the line. When its cold it feels like it has more giddy up, this doesnt seem right to me. Any help would be great.

Classic symptoms of running to rich. Metering rod springs may also need to be changed too. Does it run ok cold without the choke? Plugs black? Fouling? Thats another symptom. Lean it out some.

my car seems to have similar symptoms. it doesnt get way sluggish buy you can feel the difference. no it doesnt run okay without the choke when cold. and i can smell gas in my exhaust. i think the power valve is blown (4160 carb backfired when i first tried firing the engine). but i heard a blown PV would cause puffs of black smoke? i dont see any of that at all. just strong smell of gas out the exhaust. i tried leaning it out with the screws but it starts to stumble before the gas smell goes away.
man, i wish i could get the timing curve tuned already. (waiting to get a balancer cover with timing marks).
sorry for stealing the post. basically, is running rich causing the bad performance when cold/no choke?
