When I got the car 3 years ago, it did not have any sail, panels and the headliner was held up with safety pins. We started installing the headliner with the write-up fron Bubba and it's going good. I'm to the point where I need to know the order and correct steps of installing the sail panels. I have the material and new boards but not sure where to have extra materialto tuck and how to attach it beyond the back edge with the headliner trim piece. any help or pics is hugely appreciated.

I can't say for sure on the 69 but on the 70 there isn't any material to tuck. The fabric is wrapped around the panel and glued down on the back. Two sides are hidden by the seats/trim and the top edge sits flush against the headliner.

I just want to make sure before I cut and trim only to find out there is soppused to be extra for something. there is extra for the visors but we won't need it because we have a nice set.
thanks

Is there a trick to installing the sail panels? I have a '70 Chevelle and did the headliner and that was pretty easy, but I can't get the sail panels to look good at all. Glue doesn't stick they bow out. What is the trick?

Dave, on the '69 the extra material gets tucked/glued and the inner trim goes over the tucked material. As far as the back of the panel it gets one clip and is attached in the same fashion as a door panel would, look at the back of the panel, then look where it attaches to, it will make more sense that way. This is how I installed mine.

Chances are the Clip that sticks to the back side of the sail panel is still stuck in the mating hole on the car. Also on the ground up sails it was a real problem getting the right location for the clip. I had to install my panel 3-4 times before getting them where I wanted them. I also used some black 3M adhesive on the clip when I finally got it right

try using several strips of Velco on the back of the panels. Then you can remove and readjust as much as you need to.
