Park and taillights work???

Make sure your headlights have a good ground!!!!

Check the middle wire (blue?) on the floor dimmer for 12v with the headlights 'ON'.

If you have 12v there----the dimmer may be bad-----check for 12v on each of the outside positions on the connector (green is Hi---tan is low)
(do not totally unplug the connector----you must be able to get voltage from the power wire).

No 12 volts at the blue wire-----possible headlight switch
yes 12 volts at the blue wire----probable bad dimmer switch

12 volts getting to the green or tan wire-----something wrong after the dimmer ---- bulkhead issue???

Yes check the ground at the switch and the ground at the core cupport their should be 3 or 4 of them on the core support.
2 grounds for your lights on the core support and 1 ground for battery and 1 ground for your forward wireing harness.
I went through the same thing when I put my car back together and it was a few grounds that had too much paint under the small ground clips had to use a dremel and clean the paint off the metal to get a good ground and then my lights worked but were very dim so I did it again and found more grounds that needed to be cleaned and that worked like a charm.

That's funny, I did the same thing, but figured out out by chance. Just continued on and screwed the dimmer down, and it worked.
