I'am running a TH 400 trans and do not have the kick down switch. Does not using this on the trans effect how it works other than the down shifting?

The electric kick down when activated also boosts the internal line presure and makes for a firmer shift feel.

Not really true...when the detent solenoid is activated a few things are affected by the detent oil pressure...the 1-2 regulator valve, the 2-3 modulator valve, the 3-2 valve, the 1-2 primary accumulator valve and the vacuum modulator valve. Opening the detent solenoid exposes an orifice that bleeds line pressure acting on the detent valve to exhaust and cause the downshift but does not increase line pressure in of itself.

For some reason my stick car is like that. I cannot get a nice smooth shift and its not be bc I have driven at least half a dozen other stick cars and I drive one as my daily. The shifter is real notchy and you know when its in gear. But once you let out the clutch it justs hits and the car jumps forward and this is in all gears.
