I took some time today to cruise Ebay after a couple months of staying away. I noticed that the bidders names are no longer shown when you look at the bid history. They all look like a***7 or something like that. What is that all about? Is this to protect bidders from some kind of identity theft? Sure looks weird to me.

They all look like a***7 or something like that. What is that all about? Is this to protect bidders from some kind of identity theft? Sure looks weird to me.They are doing that with pretty much all items now to keep scammers from getting names and keep sellers from getting low-balled by another seller.

You must have been away more than a couple of months. They have been doing that for some time on the auto side and started it on everything over a certain $ amount around the first of the year. I don't like it because you can't warn bidders about some of the BS they're bidding on.
