Hey all,

I just installed a new master cylinder and booster on my 1969 Chevelle. The car was a basket case when I bought it...completely disassembled. It's taken me 7 years to get it back together and I'm almost done but I have no previously assembled reference on some stuff.

I just reassembled the brake system and I have some adjustment questions. The brakes are power brakes.

I searched all the posts about brakes and these are the items I still have a few questions about.

Clevis Pin Adjustment
I have seen in a couple of posts that the clevis pin is supposed to be adjusted to allow a little "slack". What does this mean? Does this matter on a Power Brake system? I thought the clevis just hooks up to the pedal. Does the clevis attachement to the brake pedal have any implications on a power system or is it just a mechanical link?

Spring or No Spring
Do power brakes get the spring between the clevis pin and the bracket on the instrument panel structure?

Pedal Stroke
With the master and booster installed, but with NO fluid, how much pedal stroke should I have? Right now the pedal strokes from the stop light switch to the floor. Is this normal?

Master Cylinder Seal
I read some post where people blew out the rear seal on their master. How does this happen? I know that I have a deep well master with the correct plunger on the booster. Is this all I need to be concerned about or is there some other adjustment that needs to happen at the pedal?

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bill
