Looking through the Lunati solid cams listing, I came across part #402A1LUN which is an LS-6 replacement cam. The specs are:

(396-454 c.i. engines)
272/272 Adv. Dur.
238/238 dur and .550/.550 @ .050 lift
110 LSA
Power range 2200-6500 RPM
(No advised CR range mentioned)

I ran these cam specs through Pat Kelly's DCR program and came up with a 7.8 DCR which is pretty good for street.

My general combo will be:

1967 Chevelle (3700 lbs.)
489 (4.28 bore/4.25 stroke)
063 closed ovals, 2.19 intake/1.72 exh.
CR around 9.5
RPM intake
flat top pistons
750 CFM Qjet
TH400/2400 stall
3.31 gear
1 3/4" headers, H pipe

I have been a hydraulic cam user historically, but may consider using a "small" solid in my future 489 street motor project.
Recently, I have been hearing too many good things about the performance of a solid cam. I want to keep the duration conservative (mid 230's) if I use one.

Does anyone have any solid comments on this cam in a 489? 427L88 (Gene)??

Thanks, Charles

Should work very well with your mild stall and the DCR is perfect for street. Shouldn't be very rumpity, either with excellent low/mid range power. Many would say that it's too small for a 489. It should give gobs of low to mid range power.

I have that cam with 112 LSA in my 396 (404) and replaced an L78 cam with it. The idle sounds pretty close to the L78 cam but it does have noticably more bottom end. Haven't been able to wring it out yet as the inner valvesprings are still out for cam break-in and the car in winter hibernation.
