I have just inherited my father's Elky, and I have two main questions.
firstly, I got the build sheet in front of me, and there is absolutely nothing mentioned regarding the engine.
the only thing on the sheet, is in box-27, and it says NC 8.
Box-28 says RR3C, as well as GS3 336 RATIO AXL in box-107.
Built in Baltimore in the first week of July, 1970 and it is also a code 13680- Custom El Camino.
That's about all I can get from the sheet.
Does anyone know of a place where I can find out what each code in each box means??
Second question relates to the paint codes for Chevelle's/El Camino's.
Originally mine came code 50 Gobi Beige, I'm not sure I am going to go with that color. Where is the best place to go on line to see the best examples of each color for that year?

thanks a lot.

Well, firstly, if this is the build sheet for your car, it is not an SS. The engine code in box 27, is CNC, which is a 307 2barrel, with a 3 speed automatic trans. RR3C is the trans code for a turbo 350, and the 3C is for the column shifter, 3 speed, Column shift. 3.36 is a 10 bolt axle gear ratio, which was never used on the 1970 SS.
Maybe this is not the sheet to your car??
There is a showroom on the main page that has several different colors of Chevelles. http://www.chevelles.com/showroom/showgallery.php/cat/507
I can tell you what most of the stuff is, they are mainly codes that identify each piece, that the assembly line workers use to know what piece goes on which car.

Agree with Dave on the engine/trans setup. I have several photos of Chevelles in Gobi Beige as well as every other 1970 Chevelle color. See the links below:
