Does anyone know where I can find an AC for my 71 El Camino? I cannot seem to find any of the AC outfits that have this. My El Camino did not come with AC, so I need everything.

<edit> Well I just remembered you do not have any vents in the dash, so maybe it won't. That is a big downside on the El Caminos. You may have to use a universal unit.

Philip, what's different about the El Camino as far as the vents? Just curious.

The air outlets in the dash were only installed on El Caminos with AC. On cars the non AC dash had the side outlets and a block off plate in the center location. Because of this the kits for cars will not work in the El Caminos unless the dash is fitted with aftermarket air outlets or an AC dash.

I have a pristine sweep non ac El Camino dash. This is a case of a rare part not being worth squat :D

I would assume that any 70-72 Chevelle AC car can be a donor (including 4 doors and SW). It would be a pain...

Did all non A/C Chevelle models recieve Astro Ventilation as a standard install, as opposed to base Malibus (and El Caminos and Wagons) perhaps recieving the standard one knob pull kick panels with the single vents in the kick panels? (Astro Ventilation being defined as a non a/c model with the double pull knobs in the kick panels and the dash vents on each side of the dashboard)

the elcamino came with the vent windows. So you didnt get the outside vents in the dash. I saw the one JWagner has, its kind of wierd.
Changing out a dash is only a couple hours max, not too hard to do. Jim
