Is this the right way. With linkage at wot there should still be approx .010 of play between the lever and the adjusting bolt before the lever bottoms out in the carb. Also as soon as throttle linkage moves the pump arm should be moving. Other wards no play at an idle situation
Right?

I thought it was .015" at WOT for a Holley. I could be wrong though. I think the whole idea is you get immediate pump shot and you don't damage the diaphragm at WOT.

Sometimes having a c-hair of slack in the arm at idle will help the idle quality if the car has a lopey cam. With a hairy motor rocking at idle fuel will sometimes dribble out the shooter and cause the idle to go up and down a bit.
