Just as an FYI, I scaled my car Sat night & figured I would share with all of you guys. its:

Steel 66 Chevelle.
Glass hood & trunk
stock window glass
BB 427 with Cast Iron heads
Th400 Trans.
Carpeted interior with plastic seats
9" with 15x15's & ET Drags.
about 7 or 8 Gallons of gas
No bottle in the trunk (another 33 Lbs).

total weight..... 3291Lbs. the L-R Bias was w/in 15 Lbs on both the front & back (but that was w/o the bottle) & the F-R bias had the front about 1800 Lbs & the rear @ 1400 Lbs. if anyone is interested in exact weight, I have it @ home.

Your chevelle looks great. Nice work on the wiring, rearend, dash, etc. I have a 66 also.

thanks amigo. I REALLY wanted to take my time on this car & make it as nice as I could. I think that it is coming out rather nice. Now if I could only get it to run a number, I would be MUCH happier.

thanks mucho amigo, I apprecaite it. to answer your question, yes & no. I weighed the car & then sat my fat butt in it & did it again. i wanted to know how the car sat w/o & w/ the driver. the numbers I posted up are w/o driver.

how often do they run there @ Pomona? I would guess 4 or 5 times a year? do you run over to Irwindale to race? Im down in San Diego, BTW.

Hey Bob, how's SD treating you? Pomona did away with the Street Legal racing a few years ago. We can run there only at the Super Chevy Show and the Goodguys. With luck I'll get to run there at the NHRA finals provided I win the Division 7 Summit final at Bakersfield. Keeping my fingers crossed. I've been racing at Irwindale. It's only an 1/8 mile but is quicker than Pomona.

That's a pretty light 66. My stripped 67 Elky (all steel) is 3200# (full fuel but without me). And it's a SB.

Thanks Harold, I like it. I have only 8 runs on the car & the best motor run was a 12.2 & the best bottle run was a 11.1. unfortunately, thats with a POJ HEI in it & I know that theres a LOT more in it.

Im getting my ignition back from the Mfg here real soon & im SURE that will fix it up & I can dial up the bottle some & see what it will run.

Yea, Pat I was VERY surprised how light it came in @. I weighted it 3 times to be sure we were not hosing it up somehow. I stepped on the scales & they read exactly right & w/in 1 Lb of each other so......... Im pretty sure its darn close. Unfortunately, we just lost Carlsbad Raceway, so Im either racing in the Qualcom parking lot or up to Barona for 1/8th mile drags up there (or driving up to LA). No worries, im gratefull that we do still have somewhere to run.

What happen to Carlsbad?

Its GONE. as you know, they have been threatening to shut it down for YEARS. Well.......... its happened. they got 6 days notice, & EVERYONE put the thrash on (including me) to get thier cars back together to get one last run.

What KILLS me is that now that they are closed, they update thier web site & start selling shirts & calendars & such. & now that they have dug a big trench accross the middle of the track, there is someone that is trying to "save it". :roll:

On a kind of Cool note, Don Purdome's (sp?) shop is down here in Vista & he came down for the closing day. I darn near ran his butt over trying to get ready for the next round & was scratching my head about 5 or 10 minutes later going "that guy looks kind of familiar". LOL. my buddy told me who it was later in the day, & the lights came on.
