I'm buying a MANUAL Re-built Steering Box for my 65 Chev II since my steering gears are worn. I need suggestions please..Should I go for the Close Ratio Box or the Standard OEM Box..? Who likes or dis-likes a close ratio steering box out there?? My Nova is a 283 with a 350 Turbo driven mostly around town and to cruise nites. What say U...??

Here's my two cents. I have a rebuilt manual steering box on my 66 with 215/70R15 tires up front. It is not bad, but turning in parking lots takes about as much effort as I would like with my original steering wheel. You will loose some gearing advantage by going to the close ratio box so you may end up with a very hard to turn steering wheel. Just something to think about. Of course, this is not an issue with power steering.

Wayne: Nice 66 you got there. I think your right and I'm leaning towards a stock re-built box until I hear more suggestions.
