I bought mine from Lee Mfg. in Sun Valley, CA and am quite happy with it although it was more money than the AGR unit. I know several of the guys here have the AGR box and are satisfied with it and at $329.95 from places like Summit, it's not a bad deal.

You can get suitable 12.7:1 steering boxes out of later model Jeep Cherokees (1992-98) that have the correct travel (43deg 45min) and 1988-96 full size Chevrolet with F41, FE1 or FE2 options (43deg 45min). GM F-bodies and mid 80's Monte Carlo SS/Buick GN also have a faster ratio box but they do not have the correct amount of travel and will restrict your turning radius somewhat. Junk yard prices vary but you should be able to get away for less than $100.00 most anywhere. The only issue with the later boxes in the input shaft spline is 3/4" (early Chevelles are 13/16") and the hose fittings are metric but Lee Mfg. sells a kit for $65.00 to make it all work with our chevelles. Hope this helps.

According to JLM82, a rag joint from a 79-84 Chevy full size pickup truck will fit. (part # 7826542, $62.78 from GMPARTSDIRECT)

If you haven't read Jim's tretise on A body steering upgrades you should. http://www.corvettefaq.com/A-car.asp

I chose my steering hose after reading this, http://www.geocities.com/skullmobile/steering.htm

I did the whole conversion for less than $150
(Jeep box and metric pump off ebay, new rag joint from GM and hoses from O'reilly's). I chose to upgrade my old pump using parts from the metric pump because I had to keep the stock remote reservoir setup. (67 SWP BB)
