: How Many Of You Have Wiped An XE-262???
Rmchevelle Dec 10th, 03, 11:25 PM I know many of you have had success running these cams but I have a question.
Hopefully without "bashing" I was just curious to see how many of you have had problems with this cam wiping lobes.
BillsCamino Dec 10th, 03, 11:55 PM I believe that's the cam Georgia69 runs in his 350 with great success!
Georgia69 Dec 11th, 03, 8:35 AM I've had the XE262 in my 355 for two years now. Put probably 10,000 miles and over 100 drag passes on it, no sweat.
Troy70SS Dec 11th, 03, 9:16 AM I wiped an XE268 in a buddy's 327. Second went OK with same install procedure. It runs very well now. Never used a 262.
Troy.
cjlandry Dec 11th, 03, 9:24 AM I'd like to hear from anyone who's "wiped" an ME-262! That would be an exciting story!

Mike Feudo Dec 11th, 03, 9:34 AM Call Chuck Yeager
Tom-Lozier Dec 11th, 03, 12:32 PM Yea, didn't he wipe one on take-off in German. Heard someone in Texas is manufacturing 5 of them, using derated GE's. Now that would be a sweet machine.
knownothing Dec 11th, 03, 12:32 PM I have. It was my fault tho because I overlooked what seemed like a little thing and installed the disributer 180* out trying to rush and get the thing started. redface.gif Second one runs great.
BTW no hassle I called the comp and told them the deal and sent me a new cam for nothing. They even asked if maybe I wanted to try a different one. Good deal graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Rmchevelle Dec 11th, 03, 2:07 PM Bill, Mike(Georgia69), Troy,

Compliments to Comp for the customer service on that one! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Mike Feudo Dec 11th, 03, 7:51 PM I just broke in an XE256. No problems but use EOS the lube it comes with and the motor must fire immediately. I cannot stress the importance of the last thing. Don't get in a rush take the time to make sure it will light immediately.
saturnstyl Dec 12th, 03, 9:50 PM Got a 454 that HAD an Elgin 292 from previous owner, Motor only had 4K or so on it. We didn't like it as it wasn't streetable and ran poorly. Swapped in a comp xe268. All bases were covered, new lifters, lots of break in lube, fired immediately, wasn't until after break in we found #4 intake rocker came loose, replaced rocker arm, stud, and nut. Ran it for almost 1 year, lots of hard highway miles at 3500-4000RPM, now the #4 intake lobe is wiping off. Rocker keeps coming loose. Pushrod is straight and nut is staying put. Stud is not pulling out either. We are working on a permanent solution in the form of a 502 Ramjet.
harleighguy Dec 13th, 03, 1:11 AM Here is the link to the ME-262's being built in Washington (Texas deal took a dump) a year or 2 ago... http://stormbirds.com
They flew one, but it collasped the landing gear during one of the landings. They copied even the bad things about the airplane it seems too. Pretty neat thing that they have accomplished to date though. :D
