: Info on V-Belts for 70 BBC?
Stikman33 Jun 10th, 08, 3:20 PM Hey guys, finalizing my BBC swap and need info on what belts i need for my setup. Long water pump BBC.
I have alternator, WP, PS, and of course the crank pulley.
What it is looking like now is one from the Alt/WP/Crank and another that is PS/WP/Crank.
Is this a traditional configuration, all the pulleys line up just fine. Do you guys have the part numbers, or info on where i could look up what i need, or do i need to get out a piece of rope and measure? Thanks guys!
Daniel

Fan & Alt shows 3937790 (3/8" x 45 1/2"
P/S shows 9433735 (3/8" x 41 1/2"
Don_Lightfoot Jun 10th, 08, 4:26 PM Here's the setup from the 1969 Assembly Manual Daniel. I would imagine 1970 would be the same. This is assuming there is no smog pump. Hope it helps.
Mike Jun 10th, 08, 4:36 PM Don, what Pn's are #2 & #3 ?

Mike, only reference on this page is:
2) - track 2.
3) - track 3.
No part numbers given on this page. Couldn't find them in other parts of the manual either.
Stikman33 Jun 10th, 08, 5:24 PM Ok, i have a 2 rib WP pulley, so was thinking of running 2 belts around it anyway. I probably dont have a traditional pulley setup, it is more what i could find that fits right and lines up. so right now i have a 2 rib WP pulley, a 2 rib PS pulley, 1 rib Alt, and a 3 rib crank pulley. So would use 2 on the WP, and 2 on the crank just for redundancy.
Any downsides to running 2 belts on the WP?

Daniel, I have the same pulley set up as you do. I have two belts set up exactly like the diagram above shows, 1 belt around PS and crank and one belt around ALT, WP, and crank. I don't know that there would be a downside to running both around the WP, but don't know of an upside either.
I got my belts from Advance and they are Dayco Top Cog 15460 and 15410 (this is on a 454 BBC). I knew there was a reason I kept those little cardboard belt holders they came in.:)
