: plumbing carter 172 (new to AN)

I know there has been quite a bit of disscussion surrounding this pump, and I looked at some pictures from tom baird, but I'm new to AN so i can't figure out what all the pieces are.
This is what I want to do: from the end of the 1/2 stainless fuel line that comes from the tank, I want to replace the rubber, hardline, pump, and filter and the dual feed lines for the carb with 1/2" AN braided stuff, and if I possible I'd like to add a small but accurate fuel pressure gauge (guage?) up top. I'm not sure what fuel logs or whatever are for either..
So I know I need an AN wrench set, and I understand what the 6,10,8 whatever sizing means now. What really caught my eye to do this was my desire to get rid of the slightly kinked rubber line near the pump, and the black braided stuff I saw in an Earls ad, and even more so now that I see that I can get black anodized fittings.. I like to keep an as stock as possible look..
Can anyone help me out here as to what parts I need from the hard line all the way to the dual inlets, (just by name, not part #s and stuff), including a pressure guage (is this a good idea?) and a new fuel filter. Can someone rattle off a list, preferably in order so I can match it to pictures, or should I just call earls? I can't tell which parts are swivels or connectors, or whatever, and I don't know what parts screw into the carb, and so on. I'd love EFI but if I have to keep with the holley then I better get used to dealing with it..
Second, and maybe this belongs in trouble shooting, but I need to figure out what to do about my vapor lock (I think thats what its called) problem. Right now on hot days or when the tank is low, I get pressure in the tank and the car won't idle easy and acts funny. If I stop and go undo the cap, I get a spray of hot gas pressure (how safe..) and the car starts to act normal again. I've tried drilling a small hole in the cap, but the rubber thing inside it seems to prevent it from working. My tank has provisions (I think, and I can't check because its in a storage unit) for a return line, but its just blocked off right now. Should I somehow plumb a return line? (from where?)

Thanks everyone.. I know my posts are long, but, I can't help it..

Matt

for carb(make sure they fit your model)
http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=RUS%2D640210

for fuel pump one of these depending on your fuel pump holes
http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=AER%2DFCE2008

either a -8 "T" fitting or a fuel pressure reg with dual outlets.

this is how mine is done, here is a pic
-8 an is 1/2 and -6 is 3/8 mine is done in 3/8

and be very carefull when installing pipe thread fittings in the pump and such, if you over do it you will crack the pump(I know from experience!) only tightened enough so it does not leak don't reef on them.
I still need to get some diff hoses but those are what I had so I used them for now
